The Ultimate Fighter® 20 Tryouts Open to Strawweight Women THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER® 20 TRYOUTS OPEN TO STRAWWEIGHT WOMEN Las Vegas, Nevada – In the aftermath of the Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) organization’s 20th anniversary, the UFC is kicking off its next two decades with a fresh twist on its storied reality television series, The Ultimate Fighter®. For the first time ever, the series’ 20th season will feature an all women cast in the UFC’s newest weight division and a new title for the winner – that of UFC champion. In addition to the lucrative contract with the UFC, the winner of this season of The Ultimate Fighter® will be crowned the UFC strawweight division’s inaugural champion. Women in the 115-pound division are invited to attend the official tryouts in Las Vegas, Nev. on Monday, April 28. Candidates must be female, between the ages of 21 and 34 years of age, have the legal ability to live and work in the United States, and have professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fight experience – holding a winning record (with verifiable records). Applications, which should be completed and brought to the tryouts, can be found online at http://www.ufc.com/tuf20. Tryout details are provided below: Where: Palace Station Hotel, 2411 West Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89102 Tryouts will be held in the Grand Ballroom When: Monday, April 28 Registration begins @ 8:00 a.m. PT Fighters will be required to grapple & hit pads. Please bring appropriate gear. *Applicants will be notified at the end of the tryouts if they have been selected to participate in the casting finals process. If selected, applicants must be prepared to stay in Las Vegas until May 1.     January 10, 2012 Re: Legalization of cage fighting in New York Dear State Assembly Member: We are writing you to raise concerns about renewed efforts by Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), to legalize cage fighting in the State of New York. You are no doubt aware that the State of New York banned cage fighting in 1997. We urge you to continue to uphold the ban on cage fighting, given that the UFC, the largest promoter of cage fighting events in the U.S., has failed to demonstrate that it is willing to ensure its fighters behave in a socially responsible way, even as the company expressly markets its fights and fighters to children. We believe that the UFC contributes to a culture of violence against women, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. Children, in particular, should not be exposed to the homophobic, misogynistic and violent language that has been permitted by the UFC.
