The proceeds generated by all of these have benefited both the Hall (by funding the MEMBERSHIP Pauline Baldwin purchase of new equipment) and also local charities selected by the Committee. Joan Gibson Anita Dobson We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our events and we hope that our programme for 2009/10 will appeal to you. Details are given elsewhere in this Newsletter. We warmly invite current Shirley Hughes Julia Whall members to renew their membership of the Friends. Bob Cox Margaret Adams If you are not already a member, why not join us .You will be most welcome. The annual subscription is only £5 per person per year. CO OPTED Mo Killworth If you have ideas or suggestions for events, please let any member of the Committee know. We look forward to seeing you soon. Keith Jones Chair of the Friends of AKVH TRUSTEES of ARELEY KINGS VILLAGE HALL LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF ARELEY KINGS VILLAGE HALL CHAIR Graham Baldwin It is pleasing to report that our village hall continues to be well used and supported; like all business in this present economic climate we have to manage our resources carefully. Maintenance costs are rising, TREASURER Bev Haywood the hall is 5 years old and some things are showing signs of wear requiring repair or replacement. The main sewer has recently had major repair, the outside wood work has been re varnished and one of the Sue Crowther Jamie Shaw CCTV cameras has to be replaced; the list goes on. There is still the problem of youths climbing on the roof, causing damage, and a window was smashed by a golf ball struck by someone on the MAPA pitch. We have had tremendous support from the police and the general public in tackling these problems, but it Mike Partridge John Thomas is difficult to understand the reasoning behind the wilful damage of our hall, which belongs to us all. On the ***** positive side we have continued to receive magnificent support from many of our user groups and the CO OPTEDTRUSTEES general public, which has allowed the Trustee Management to implement many improvements over the past 12 months; the sweep fans in the main hall, the wonderfully efficient hand dryers in all the toilets, the Chris Thomas auto switch lighting in many areas, our new notice boards and welcome and door signs. Many of these Rose West projects have led to improved efficiency, as well as user friendliness, which would not have been possible without your support. Stan Gibson At our AGM in April we advised the meeting that we felt our constitution was very old and out of date Linda Edmondson with present requirements; I am pleased to report that the Trustees have drawn up and agreed a new ********* constitution. An extra ordinary meeting will be held on Thursday the 8th October 2009 to approve the new constitution which includes a proposal to increase the number of Trustees; we feel that this will lead CLERK TO THE TRUSTEES to a much more secure future for the management of our hall. Margaret Taylor We have to thank you all for your continued support and especially the Friends of AKVH for their tremendous support, including the production of this newsletter. MANY, MANY, THANKS. BOOKING SECRETARY Graham Baldwin - Chairman of the Trustees Management Committee Joan Gibson
