Proposal: I write to give notice of proposed works to trees in the Conservation Area along the border of 108 Hatfield Road, St Albans, my address, and Station Way. There are currently over 30 trees along my border 11 of which are mature Leylandii, some over 15m in height and one, a smaller Holly tree. The first proposal is to raise the crown of all trees projecting out into Station Way, to above the height of the double decker busses that use this side road to the City Station. The second proposal is to remove the 10 of the 11 Leylandii and 1 Holly tree to just above the ground. In all but one of the cases this will broadly represent thinning of the existing tree cover. In the other case involving a clump of 6 closely planted Leylandii one of the six will be retained to avoid leaving an approximately 5m gap in the boundary. Later when I have planted around it with fruit trees, including an already purchased Apple tree I will apply to remove the remaining Leylandii also. I have attached 3 photos showing the boundary and the need to accommodate double decker buses accessing St Albans City Station via Station Way.
