The Property

The Grange is a very handsome detached Grade II listed village house dating from the late 18 th and early 19 th centuries. It has painted brick elevations, the southern elevation was once symmetrical and the rear wing is flint with brick dressings. It has sash and small casement windows under a tiled roof. Full of character and much architectural detail, the front door and porch lie at the eastern end and open into an L-shaped entrance hall off which is a vestibule, cloakroom and turned staircase rising to the first floor. There are three charming main reception rooms, the drawing room, dining room and sitting room. There is a fully fitted kitchen/breakfast room with Aga and a door leads through to the utility room and larder and off the rear hall/boot room is a study and store room which houses the boiler and could be simply converted into additional living space. Indeed, this end of the house with the rooms above could be reconfigured to provide a self- contained annexe. There is a useful cellar with two rooms and on the first floor six bedrooms, two bathrooms and a dressing room.

Outside

The house is approached from the High Street by a long driveway which sweeps around to a four bay barn-style garage. Three are used as garaging and the fourth, which is enclosed, provides storage for garden mowers, implements, etc. Established private gardens surround the house, there are sweeping lawns, some particularly fine trees, shrubs and a small vineyard. The gardens extend in all to about one acre.
