Prior to that, I spent almost 5 years teaching and living in Seoul, Korea, where I became interested in working with foreign or international students. My educational background is in biology and art history, but I enjoy working with international students here at Cypress, assisting them with their pursuit of higher education in the United States, and witnessing their successes in transferring to universities or obtaining their degrees here to enrich their professional careers back home. I enjoy hiking, travelling, baking and reading. Gina Marrocco, Administrative Assistant After graduating from Cypress High School, I attended Cypress College. I completed an Associate Degree in Business Administration. While attending Cypress College, I worked part-time in the Business Computer Lab. My Computer Information Systems Professor, Donna Woo, was responsible for the lab. I kept in contact with Professor Woo and my Academic Counselor, Don Tyrell after graduating. They had such an impact on my life! I was hired at Cypress College in 2001, for an Administrative Assistant position in the Center for Intercultural Understanding.

    2019 REPORT 2020-21 Five Year Capital Outlay Plan California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office | Eloy Ortiz Oakley, Chancellor ELOY ORTIZ OAKLEY Chancellor Aug. 21, 2019 The Honorable Gavin Newsom Governor of California State Capitol Sacramento, CA 95814 RE: Report on California Community Colleges Five-Year Capital Outlay Plan for 2020-21 Dear Gov. Newsom: The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office and the Board of Governors are pleased to release the 2020-21 Five-Year Capital Outlay Plan for the California Community Colleges. The California Community Colleges has more than 2.1 million students enrolled in its 73 districts, 115 college campuses and 78 approved educational centers. The infrastructure used to facilitate its educational programs and administrative operations includes more than 25,000 acres of land, 5,956 buildings and 87 million gross square feet of space that includes 54 million assignable square feet of space. To support community college districts grow and improve their educational facilities, the Facilities Planning Unit of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office annually reviews and approves local Five-Year Capital Outlay Plans as part of the Capital Outlay grant application process. The Facilities Planning Unit also works alongside the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges to develop an annual systemwide Five- Year Capital Outlay Plan pursuant to California Regulation and Education Code. The Five- Year Capital Outlay Plan is presented to California Legislature in conjunction with the Governor’s Budget, and it clarifies statewide needs and priorities of the California Community Colleges. We believe that proper educational facilities play a vital role in supporting the goals and commitments outlined in the California Community Colleges Vision for Success (Vision for Success).

It was agreed by the group to share the PAC meeting minutes template with other shared governance committees to use also. COMMITTEE PRESENTATIONS AnnMarie Ruelas presented a high-level overview of the Student Services Program Review (SSPR) process and forms. She discussed the SSPR role, purpose and mission. The SSPR schedule is a 4-year cycle with 3-4 departments/programs evaluated every year. AnnMarie also covered the SSPR survey, timelines and 11 parts of the SSPR form in detail. A SSPR rubric has also been developed to assess programs. Programs must receive an 80% to meet standards. The committee is available to provide guidance and support. Treisa Cassens and Kathleen McAlister gave a presentation on the Distance Ed Plan which was provided ahead of time for review. Data stopped for this report in fall 2019, which is when the plan was approved by the Distance Education committee. The plan was presented to the Academic Senate in the fall, and was approved by Senate in January 2021.

Formal recognition will follow our return to campus. Congratulations to the tenure class of 2020. Katalin Angelov Media Arts Design, Fine Arts Katalin Angelov is an international animator and educator, as well as a full-time professor in the Media Arts Design Program at Cypress College. She has been teaching for more than 17 years. Originally from Hungary, Katalin moved to the United States and earned a bachelor’s degree from The Evergreen State College and Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Digital Arts from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Katalin’s employment history includes the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, The Labyrinth Project at USC, HUCK Magazine UK, and the Walt Disney Company. Jolina Cadilli Mathematics, Science, Engineering & Math Jolina Cadilli graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, and continued on to achieve a master’s degree in mathematics from California State University, Fullerton. She also obtained a single-subject teaching credential in mathematics and a supplementary credential in fine arts. Jolina’s prior work experience includes 13 years of teaching at the high school level while simultaneously teaching three years at Golden West College. Justin Campbell English, Language Arts Justin Campbell is an award-winning writer of fiction. He has published a number of works and is a contributor to the LA Review of Books. Justin received a bachelor’s degree in humanities from Biola University, as well as a master’s degree in English from Loyola Marymount University.

    Office of Campus Communications Cypress College Fact Sheet Name: Cypress College Description: Cypress College is a public two-year campus providing educational excellence in the North Orange County (CA) area. The college primarily serves the communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Garden Grove, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Stanton. Cypress College is one of three institutions in the North Orange County Community College District and one of 116 in the California Community College System — the largest system of higher education in the world. Cypress College enrolls approximately 16,000 students each semester. Location: The Cypress College campus is located at the intersection of Valley View Street and Lincoln Avenue in the City of Cypress. The is easily accessible from several Southern California freeways, including the 5, 91, 605, 22 and 405, and is in close proximity to major tourist destinations such as Disney’s California Resorts and Knott’s Berry Farm. Nearly 56,000 students enroll each term at Cypress College, Fullerton College, and North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE). College students are able to shape their futures in programs leading to associate degrees, career certificates, and transfer opportunities. Life-long learning also is possible in continuing education programs that range from high school completion and basic skills mastery through an array of career technical training and self-development courses. The NOCCCD campuses serve an area of over one million diverse people–each pursuing their own, unique ambitions. The District encompasses approximately 155 square miles. Boundaries extend to the Riverside County line on the east and the Los Angeles County line on the west and north. A portion of Los Angeles County, on the north and west boundary, is included in the District’s service area.
