PART I

ST. GRIGOR LUSAVORITCH - HOVHANNES SARKAVAG

On the 28th of September 1994 the first meeting of the Scientific Council of the series — “THE ARMENIAN THEOLOGICAL LIBRARY” took place in the Theological Center “Gandzasar”. Fr. Mesrop Aramian pre- sented the principles of compiling the series which were discussed thor- oughly. The following principles of the series’ preparation were accepted: 1. series include only the theological heritage of the Armenian Church, works of other kind are omitted 2. the volumes will bear the authors’ names and numbers according to the chronological order 3. authentic and non authentic works known under each author’s name will be presented 4. all new prepared texts in Old Armenian will be critical, but in some cases the text may be presented according to the oldest manuscript if analysis shows that later copies do not bring forth essential differences 5. in some cases, already published texts will be presented if they have been compiled on the necessary scientific level and according to the oldest manuscripts (especially St. Lazar’s publications are meant)
