Sunday to take on Hakoah Sydney City East. Hakoah can be a prickly customer and Manly won’t Last week Paul Dee’s side were agonisingly denied want to slip up if they are secure the win in front of a win by Sydney Olympic who snatched a 1-1 draw their fans. with a goal only two minutes from full-time. The boys from the Northern Beaches have been solid so far this season but have been unable to turn their performances into consistent results. Dee has made few changes to his starting team in recent weeks so expect a similar looking side to the one which ran out onto Belmore Sports Ground on Good Friday. Charles Mendy and Nikola Taneski are dangerous players off the bench and could be the game changers in this clash against a stout Hakoah defense. Gavin Rae’s Hakoah team pushed APIA all the way in Round 6 but had no answers for league leaders Wollongong last round. Bradley Walker’s return to the centre of defence has helped steel the back line of the Eastern Suburbs outfit. 1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S POS TEAM P W D L F A GD PTS 1 Wollongong Wolves FC 7 5 2 0 16 7 9 17 2 APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 7 4 2 1 11 6 5 14 3 Marconi Stallions FC 7 4 0 3 15 7 8 12 4 Blacktown City FC 7 3 2 2 7 6 1 11 5 Sydney United 58 FC 7 3 2 2 10 13 -3 11 6 Manly United FC 7 2 4 1 9 8 1 10 7 Rockdale City Suns FC 7 3 1 3 6 12 -6 10 8 Sydney Olympic FC 7 2 2 3 13 12 1 8 9 Sydney FC 7 2 1 4 11 13 -2 7 10 Hakoah Sydney City East FC 7 2 1 4 6 8 -2 7 11 Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC 7 1 2 4 10 17 -7 5 12 Sutherland Sharks FC 7 1 1 5 5 10 -5 4 NPLNSW.COM.AU 5 1ST GRADE REVIEWS Sydney Olympic 2 v Manly United 2 at Belmore Sports Ground A Dimi Petratos goal in the dying minutes has helped Sydney Olympic rescue a 2-2 draw with Manly United in their National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s clash on Friday evening at Belmore Sportsground. With Olympic eyeing off another crushing defeat with less than four minutes left on the clock, Petratos saved the day with a well hit strike from outside the 18 yard box. Manly took the advantage twice in the game through Dejan Pandurevic and Scott Balderson, but Olympic cancelled out both of their goals through Mitchell Stamatellis and then Petratos at the death. It was yet another frustrating result for either side who have struggled to make the most of their chances so far this season. Hakoah Sydney City FC 0 v Wollongong Wolves 2 at Hensley Athletic Field Two ‘golden eggs’ from Thomas James were enough for competition front-runners Wollongong Wolves to overcome Hakoah Sydney City East 2-0 at Hensley Athletic Field on Easter Sunday. The hosts were denied any opportunities to take a stranglehold of the contest by an energetic Wolves side, whose rapid counter-attacking game proved to be successful yet again. The sides were ultimately split by two moments of brilliance from emerging Golden Boot favourite Thomas James, who found the back of the net on either side of half time with a precise flicked header on 22 minutes and a 55th minute low drive which nestled in the bottom corner. Hakoah experienced brief periods of dominance, particularly late in the second half, however were often let down by their final pass on a frustrating day for the Eastgardens faithful. Overall it was a professional showing from the ladder leaders, who continue to go from strength to strength under new boss Luke Wilkshire. 6 #NPLNSW TEAM OF THE WEEK 01: LARGE USE: OVER 150MM WIDE This logo has a smaller ‘®’ symbol FOOTBALL NSW WOULD LIKE TO THANK THEIR SPONSORS FOR THEIR CONTINUED SUPPORT 02: SMALL USE: 55MM - 150MM WIDE This logo has a larger ‘®’ symbol NPLNSW.COM.AU 7 keep our game beautiful INTEGRITY IN SPORT Football NSW and the National Premier Leagues NSW are bound by Football Federation Australia’s NATIONAL CODE OF CONDUCT and NATIONAL ANTI-DOPING POLICY.
