Families of General Teran, Nuevo Leon Mexico Volume Four 2nd Edition By [email protected] April 2014 Crispin Rendon 3430 Bahia Place Riverside, CA 92507 Families of General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Volume Four (1842-1850) 2nd Edition By [email protected] You might assume that I have ancestors from Valle de la Mota, now named General Teran. I don't. So why did I create a 16 volume family series, from there, spanning a period of over 100 years? It all started with an article published in the Los Bexarenos Genealogical Register Volume XXVII. The article was about Jose Lucas Rodriguez who married five times and fathered over 30 children in General Teran. I looked at a bunch of marriage records as I researched that article and the idea came to me that I would have to look at the same records again and again. This is a common routine with genealogy research. You check the records for one family and then check the same records for another family. Sounds easy enough until you find some records that are difficult to read. You take the time to read them all for each new search. It is so much nicer to reach for a book that has every marriage. Why stop there? Place each family in the context of where they fit in the big picture puzzle. Give the image number for the marriage for easy online access. That was my big ideal. The original volume one was well received and led to volume two and so on ending with volume sixteen. Since then something unforeseen happened. The FamilySearch.org web site changed how they present the images for the General Teran church marriage records. The image numbers have changed. That is the mayor reason for this second edition. Rather that just edited for image number values, this new edition is rebuilt. My genealogy database, which was used to produce these books, grew from about 200,000 records to over 311,000 records since the first edition. This series regeneration benefits from some of that new data in the form of corrections and additional details. The data from the original 16 volumes is now found in 9. Not all marriages result in descendants. Most of non-marriage record information presented was gathered using the FamilySearch.org database index. Page 2 This project requires more than just skill in reading handwriting. It demands some skill in paleography (the study of ancient writings). I learn as I go, without a formal education in genealogy or paleography. My books are my interpretation of the records, not what I see in the records but how I interpret them. Please take the time to view the online church record images. I want you to find any or all of these church marriage records. I recorded the image number followed by a dash and serial number for each record with the hope that you would be able to locate them with little effort. It should be easy if you have used the online images before. I like to think of it as riding a bike. Once you learn to do it, there is no problem. The problem is learning to do it. 10 Steps to viewing the General Teran, marriage image you want 1.) Go online to FamilySearch.org. Click on the word "Search" at the top of the page. 2.)
