14th January 2020 Dear Parent/Carer A-Level Geography Fieldwork I am writing to inform you of an A-Level fieldwork opportunity organised for Monday 10th February to Spitalfields, London. This will give students an opportunity to plan and participate in a geographical enquiry, which is a key geographical skill and crucial to their final grade. This fieldwork will also give students a greater understanding of the Changing Places topic, which will be examined in their unit 2 paper. Students will take an enquiry led approach to investigate the causes and consequences of gentrification in the East End of London. The investigation provides an opportunity to explore the developing character of a contrasting place, focusing specifically on economic change and social inequalities. Students will leave school at break time, with Miss Kaposi, and return to school at approximately 4.00pm. There is no cost for this day however students will need to purchase a return train ticket form Cheshunt to Liverpool Street on the day and either bring a packed lunch or money to purchase this whilst there. If you are happy for your child to attend this fieldwork, please complete the attached consent form and return to Miss Kaposi no later than Friday 24th January. If you would like any further details regarding this visit please contact me at the school using [email protected] Yours faithfully Mrs E Morgan Faculty Leader – Humanities Haileybury Turnford, Mill Lane, Cheshunt, EN8 0JU 01992 308333 [email protected] Haileybury Turnford is a trading name of Haileybury Academy Trust, a charitable company limited by guarantee registered in England and Wales with registered number 09659808.
