CURRICULUM VITAE: RAM S. JAKHU
(abridged)
Currently, I hold a tenured position of Associate Professor at, the
Institute of Air and Space Law, Faculty of Law, McGill University.
I have extensive academic experience in the field of international and national Space Law and Policy as well as in teaching (mainly at graduate level), research and providing consultation to several private and governmental entities and drafting national laws and regulations in various countries. For the last ten years I have been
spearheading the world ’ s m ost extensive and multi-million-dollar
academic Space Law-related research and outreach program (about $4 million), which comprises of various activities, including
an International Study on Global Governance of Outer Space and an international project for drafting Manual on International Law Applicable to Military Uses of Outer Space (MILAMOS). Several of my graduate students have been - are - involved in these research
projects. I have, on the average, supervised 14 students each academic year. The philosophy and approach of my academic, particularly teaching, activities have always been student-centred.

Since June 2008: Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, McGill University, (Full-time tenured
position). Teach and conducts research in international space law, law of space applications, law

of space commercialization, space security, space safety, national regulation of space activities, law of telecommunications, and public international law and head a multi-million dollars research and outreach program for space law and policy.
1 June 2016-31 July 2017: Director, Institute of and Centre for Research in, Air and Space Law, McGill University, Montreal, Canada. (Full-time position), directed the world’s leading graduate level program in air and space law.

activities of the Centre, specially its collaborative research project (with a budget of $1.2 million) with the Indian Institute of Management for setting up the Centre for Telecom Policy Studies in Ahmadabad, India, and organised several conferences in India and Canada, achieving high efficiency and economy in spending for a period of 5 years (originally project was for 3 years).
