HILL Contact: linkedin.com/in/davidlesliehill WORK EXPERIENCE Sept. 2016-Present: Creative Director Creative Hill — Seattle Creative Hill focuses on branding, advertising and content, specializing in video scripting and sportswriting. Projects include work for Samsung Mobile as well as long-standing editorial writing for the Baltimore Orioles and Girls’ Life magazine. Scripted Samsung video for the global press event about the Galaxy Note7 battery issue. The video—featured on Samsung Newsroom, media outlets and social channels—received 675,000 views the first week and 300,000 views in a single day, resulting in the most organic views of any Samsung video ever. Recently worked on agency projects for Microsoft and T-Mobile as well as independently for Compass, a real estate platform. May 2019-August 2019: Copy Lead POP — Seattle Managed a team of five copywriters on a comprehensive rebuild of much of the T-Mobile consumer website. Embedded at T-Mobile working with a team of copywriters, designers and client stakeholders. Through a narrative storytelling approach, customers are now able to find what they want about products, services and benefits in a radically simple way. Designed so that every page can be a point of entry, visitors to the site are led on a thoughtful and intuitive path through its pages. July 2018-May 2019: Creative Director May 2017-July 2018: Associate Creative Director Edelman — Seattle Led storytelling efforts on the Samsung and Puget Sound Energy accounts. Concepted and created campaigns and messaging for multinational brands. Work for Samsung included launch event/activation ideation and creating an award-inning social-influencer docu-series for Samsung Gear. Developed and delivered creative concepts and ideas across all platforms and new business pitches. Worked in partnership with senior account and planning leads to see projects from ideas to activations, completing projects on time and within budget. Managed copywriters, designers and video editors to deliver strategic and innovative creative for Microsoft Store and Xbox. Work included PSE’s carbon-reduc- tion initiative digital campaign; California Walnuts video series; rebranding of international healthcare organization HIMSS; and numerous successful RFP pitches, including Sonos, Samsung Mobile and Kaiser Permanente. Other clients: Shell, Kellogg’s, Infiniti, Savers/Value Village and Charles Smith’s Wines of Substance. June 2016-May 2017: Senior Digital Copywriter F5 Networks — Seattle Collaborated with stakeholders throughout multinational corporation to promote the brand, recruiting efforts and its network security solutions across F5.com. Transformed technical jargon into compelling, easily digestible, customer-facing content. Major projects included an overhaul of the F5 Careers portal—including sections on employee teams, global offices and company culture—as well as revamping F5 Briefing Centers content. Feb. 2015-May 2016: Associate Creative Director Wunderman Seattle — Seattle Led a team of art directors and copywriters creating ongoing digital campaigns for T-Mobile. Responsible for maintaining consistent brand voice across channels as well as directing naming exercises for Un-carrier initiatives. Special focus on driving benefit awareness among current customers, including B2B subscribers. Involved in all aspects of creative process from concepting to final execution with super-fast turnaround. Substantial digital copywriting experience—from MMS and emails to social posts, landing pages and scripting numerous Web videos. Chief copywriter on Microsoft’s “Scroogled” campaign (“hard hitting” and a “success” says AdvertisingAge) resulting in several network television commercials as well as full-page print advertising appearing in the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. Conducted interviews with notable television personalities such as travel/food writer Anthony Bourdain, developed story ideas and edited columnists Bill Nye the Science Guy and others. Jan. 1991-Sept. 2005: Founding Editor Simone Enterprises, Inc. — Baltimore, Md. Founded Outside Pitch, a highly successful Baltimore Orioles news magazine. Served as editor-in-chief and oversaw all aspects of the magazine, including editorial, photography, graphic design and Web ventures, as well as spearheading marketing initiatives. Developed story ideas and managed a number of freelance writers and photographers. Directed art staff, from design ideas to formulating headlines and captions.
