On QB Tim Tebow “I know he has all the tools and capacity to be a starting quarterback. I think he looks at it too that he wants to get better; he wants to come in next year as an all-around leader of this team. I think he will be.”

On missing the playoff game against New England due to injury “It is tough. I got pretty antsy at the house before the game started because I wanted to be out there. I didn’t miss a game until this week. I understand that injuries are part of the process, and I have great faith in my teammates and what they’re capable of doing. Obviously the outcome wasn’t what we wanted. But if you take it as a whole, it was a very positive, successful season for us.”

On if he’s had time to reflect yet “It’s still fresh. I think if we get away from it a little bit and then come back, whether it’s watching tape, talking, thinking and processing it, I think a lot of guys are going to take a lot of positives from this season. Just the ups and downs we had. The battle, we had to fight against people saying, ‘You can’t win, you can’t do this. You don’t have enough talent. You don’t have enough time spent with the coaching staff.’ It shows a lot of character of this team, the guys in the locker room, the guys upstairs—the front office and coaching staff—I’m excited because this is a good stepping stone in the right direction for our future.”

On how it will be to have an entire offseason together “I think that’s the biggest thing, the lack of camps last season because of the lockout. I know myself, not having one for almost five, six years, it will be nice for me personally, and I think this team, too, because we learned a lot about one another and now we know what our potential is. It’s just a matter of executing and repetition and really finding what our strengths are and using those to our advantage.”

On his injury “I’m taking it day-by-day. Obviously, from last week to this week I’m feeling a lot better. Now with some time off, you just got to take it slowly and make sure you get it healed correctly. The training staff has done a great job so far this past week of getting me where I need to be and I’ll move forward from there.”

On playing for Coach Fox “He’s probably the best coach I’ve had. He’s a veteran guy that’s seen a lot of football. Very personal man, which I think is big in this league because a guy who can be a players’ coach and demand respect, it’s a good combination. He understands the difference between being a great football player and being a great all-around player with the mental toughness, with being a student of the game and he incorporates all that. I think a lot of guys learn from him and definitely respect him.”

On looking back on the season “I think we know what we are capable of doing. It’s a matter of being consistent for a long period of time. You can have flashes but that doesn’t make greatness. What makes greatness is being consistent week-in and week-out, preparing, watching film, taking care of your body nutrition wise. As a young team with some great veteran leaders, I think we can move forward in the right direction and use it as a building block.”
