Sept. 16 at California 2 p.m. USF is looking to snap a four game skid - all road losses - as they start seeing the end of their season-long Sept. 18 UC DAVIS 1 p.m. seven game road swing on the horizon; after this weekend’s games in Arizona, the Dons play at Cal (Sept. Sept. 29 at San Diego* 7 p.m. 16) before returning home to host UC Davis (Sept. 18). With a team best four goals already, senior midfielder Amanda Whittle has established a new career high; Oct. 3 at BYU* 7 p.m. Whittle scored in USF’s first three games and added a score at Vanderbilt this past weekend; coming into Oct. 7 SAINT MARY’S* 7 p.m. the year, Whittle’s season high was three (2015). Oct. 9 PACIFIC* 1 p.m. The Dons’ last win over a Pac-12 opponent came at Oregon last year (1-0); prior to that, USF had not Oct. 21 at Loyola Marymount* 7 p.m. defeated a Pac-12 opponent since Oregon State in 2004. Oct. 23 at Pepperdine* 1 p.m. USF has made a habit of scoring late with 5 of their 7 goals coming in the 2nd half this year Oct. 28 PORTLAND* 7 p.m. GAME NOTES Oct. 30 GONZAGA* 1 p.m. LAST TIME OUT: DONS SUFFER LOSSES AT MISSOURI, VANDERBILT Nov. 5 SANTA CLARA* 7 p.m. The Dons dropped both games of a road swing against SEC opponents this past weekend, falling to Missouri by a 4-1 tally before being edged in their Sunday contest at Vanderbilt 2-1. The Dons fell in a 2-0 hole at HOME MATCHES IN CAPS All Times Pacific Mizzou before Maddy Glaser connected for her first score of the season in the 47th minute. However, that * West Coast Conference match would be as close as USF would get as the Tigers added two more goals in the 51st and 78th minutes. RANK AMONG WCC LEADERS SNAPSHOT: ARIZONA STATE (3-1-1) The Sun Devils split a pair of home contests this past weekend with a 3-0 win over Columbia followed by TEAM STATS WCC OVERALL a 3-1 loss to Denver. Jazmarie Mader leads the Devils with 4 goals in 5 games and a team high 18 shots. Shots -- 63 (5th) Adriana Orozco has contributed two goals and a pair of assists as well. Overall, ASU is outscoring opponents Points -- 20 (6th) 11-5 so far while holding a 97-47 advantage in shots. Goals -- 7 (t-6th) SNAPSHOT: ARIZONA (3-1-1) Assists -- 6 (t-3rd) The Wildcats posted shutouts in both of their games this past weekend, blanking Denver 3-0 and Columbia Goals Allowed -- 12 (10th) 2-0. Lex Selman Richards has paced UA offensively with 3 goals and a pair of assists to her credit, while Cali Goals Against Avg. -- 1.98 (9th) Crisler has also tallied 3 goals on the year. The Wildcats are outshooting opponents 95-40 over their five Saves -- 34 (2nd) games while holding a 13-6 edge in goals. Shutouts -- 0 (t-9th) ON THE VERGE For the first time in program history, the Dons received votes in a national top-25 poll earlier this season. Top INDIVIDUAL STATS (among top-10) Drawer Soccer included USF among its teams receiving votes after the Dons started the year by winning their Points WCC OVERALL first two games - one against Florida Gulf Coast, who went into that contest ranked No. 24 by TDS. Sonja Giraud -- 19 (3rd) Amanda Whittle -- 13 (8th) LEADING RETURNERS ABOUND The Dons return six of their top seven points leaders from last year, however 2015 top scorer redshirt Goals sophomore Samantha Jehnings (7 goals / 2 assists) will miss the season due to injury. Leaving other top Amanda Whittle -- 4 (t-3rd) returning scorers in senior Amanda Whittle, who led the team in assists (5) while scoring 3 goals, junior Sonja Giraud, who was 2nd on the team with 5 goals on the year, while junior Camille Wilson tallied 4 goals. Sonja Giraud -- 2 (t-8th) Senior Jessica Nakae was 2nd on the team with 3 assists and scored a pair of goals, while sophomore Micaela Mercado registered 2 goals last season. Assists Numerous -- 1 (t-6th) LEAN ON ME After losing six seniors from last year, all of whom played a significant role, the Dons are sure to lean heavily Game Winning Goals on their returning senior core of Jessica Nakae, Amanda Whittle and Ali Schaffer. With a combined 179 Amanda Whittle -- 1 (t-5th) appearances coming into the year, the trio represents by far the most experience on this year’s squad. Nakae, who can offer both an attacking and defensive midfield presence, was a first team All-WCC selection and second team all-region honoree in 2015. The left-footed Whittle presents a wicked offensive midfield attack Goals Against Avg. on the wing and was an All-WCC honorable mention pick last year while leading the team with five assists. Makayla Presgrave -- 1.98 (10th) Schaffer, the 2015 WCC co-Defensive Player of the Year and third team all-region honoree, has logged the most career minutes (5,226) of anyone on the team heading into the 2016 campaign. Despite falling to 5th Season Best WCC Finish T-2nd, 2015 Portland in the regular season finale, USF tied for Cal State Dominguez First Year of Soccer 1985 (2-11-0) second in the WCC - their best finish ever - while Hills ‘93 All-Time Record (31 seasons) 217-351-47 (.391) going 13-4-3 overall and 7-2-0 in conference play, both program bests. Among the team highlights Record at USF (entering 2016): were the Dons’ first-ever victory over WCC-rival 33-32-14 (.494), 4 seasons 2015 REVIEW NCAA Division I Record: 177-129-39 (.570), 17 seasons Santa Clara and an upset over No. 5 BYU that went Overall Head Coaching Record: 286-146-72 (.639), 21 seasons 2015 Record 13-4-3 down as the highest ranked team USF had ever 2014 Conference Record/Finish 7-2-0 / t-2nd defeated. 2015 NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year All-WCC Selections 6 1998 Pac-10 Coach of the Year Postseason None GETTING DEFENSIVE 1997 NSCAA West Region Coach of the Year Highest Ranking None A big factor in the Dons’ 2015 success was a 1996 Pac-10 Coach of the Year lockdown defense that set a new team record Millinder came to the Hilltop with a wealth of 2016 TEAM INFORMATION with a 0.72 goals against average over the course of the year while tying the program mark with 10 experience and success after stops at the University of Letterwinners Returning/Lost 17/8 shutouts.
