An International Primary School Teacher (starting date 1st of September 2019)

Being a start-up international school, we are currently looking for a classroom teacher to join our team at Amstelland International School. Our new school will open its doors in October 2019. Preferably we welcome a new teacher in the beginning of September, due to the preparation of the new educational programme. About Amstelland International School Amstelland International School will be a new primary school in Amstelveen (close to ) and will open its doors in October 2019. Although formally connected to a regular Dutch school, the new school will be located in a separate building. The school is subsidised by the Dutch government, which enables us to deliver high quality education for a reasonable fee. Amstelland International School is a school for children who need to be educated in English to ensure continuity of education when moving abroad. Being a member of Dutch International Primary Schools (DIPS), we welcome children of all nationalities and backgrounds. We will work with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), providing a cross-curricular, thematic and creative teaching structure designed to engage children of all abilities in today’s world.

If you are: • willing to join a start-up team • flexible and open to new ideas and be able to adapt to various situations • able to create and implement school policy by having the ability to take the initiative • able to commit to the school’s mission to provide community based international learning • able to differentiate and to challenge each student to the best of their abilities • a native speaker of English or a near-native (C2 level) • willing to learn the Dutch language • able to cope with mixed language levels and different cultural backgrounds • internationally-minded and having the desire to help shape the exciting future of our school

If you have: • a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/Bachelor’s Degree), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent Primary School Teaching qualifications already recognised by the Dutch government • a minimum of two years teaching experience • excellent interpersonal, organisational and class management skills • excellent knowledge and experience of different teaching and educational methodologies • knowledge of and experience with the International Primary Curriculum and UK National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies (this is a preference) • have experience of teaching the full primary curriculum to whole classes of children • be eligible to live and work in the EU (we are not able to secure work permits for candidates)

All non-Dutch teaching qualifications must be verified by DUO. We are not able to employ teachers if this process has not been completed.
