Amen. Notices Sanctuary Sunday: On Sunday 24 June at 1.30pm, a special service will be held at the cathedral to celebrate the end of Refugee Week. The theme for this first Sanctuary Sunday is: ‘Different Pasts, Shared Future’ to emphasise the mutual desire for hope and peace. Cleaning volunteers: As recently reported at the APCM, the number of Cleaning Volunteers at the Cathedral has decreased over the past year – we’re now down to just two regular helpers! If you can spare as little as 2 hours a month to help then please contact Stephen Brooker, Head of Facilities on 0121 262 1850. Divine Beauty: The website dedicated to the Cathedral’s Divine Beauty project also contains a blog. Blogs are short written accounts, generally with personal perspectives and the cathedral community are warmly encouraged to contribute. Vivienne Arnold has written a very lovely piece on the role the windows have played in her life. www.divinebeautyproject.com Please get in touch with Jane McArdle if you would like to contribute. Winchester Cathedral Flower Festival: There is a major ‘Festival of Flowers’ inspired by the Winchester Bible taking place 5-9 September 2018 in Winchester Cathedral. The Birmingham Cathedral Flower Team is proposing a visit, by train, on Thursday 6 September. Other members of the congregations are welcome to join us. It will enable us to see more of Winchester’s wonderful building than most of us managed at Dean Catherine’s installation. There will also be a large ‘trading area’ outside the cathedral and ‘afternoon tea’ can be booked. Tickets to the flower festival are £12 (£10 if we have a party of 15+); Afternoon Tea is £14 (menu can be provided); day return train fare is £48.40. (There may be reductions for group travel) For those wishing to stay longer in Winchester, the Holiday Inn is offering B&B on 6 September only for £134 for two persons sharing, including two tickets for the festival.
