Gala TV ‘Festive Full House’ gives players the best Christmas presents Submitted by: Propellernet Monday, 21 December 2009 Interactive bingo channel announces three winners of its popular promotion Three lucky Gala TV (http://www.galabingo.co.uk/) viewers have received the best Christmas presents thanks to the popular interactive bingo channel’s ‘Festive Full House’ promotion. Throughout December viewers of the channel, which is streamed live on Gala TV and broadcast on Sky and Freesat channel 861, were asked to nominate undiscovered heroes who they felt deserved a special present this Christmas. The first winner to be surprised by a visit from presenter Mike Mason and the Gala TV crew was Dorna Wellings, who is from Macclesfield and was nominated by daughter Tina Wellings. The 61-year-old had suffered a number of health problems including having both her kidney and gall bladder removed, several strokes, a heart operation and more recently was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema. Her poor health has meant she is unable to move house to be closer to her beloved family. Therefore, Gala TV stepped in and gave her lounge a surprise home makeover so Dorna and her family can spend Christmas together in her wonderful new living room! Delighted Dorna said: “We would never have been able to redecorate without Gala TV. Because I’m unwell it’s a real struggle, so it’s such a relief that they’ve done it all for me. We’re going to have the best Christmas ever!” Meanwhile Paul Humphries, a life-long Liverpool FC fan, had all his Christmas dreams come true thanks to a nomination by his wife of fifteen years, Alison. Alison, 45, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis several years ago. As her condition worsened, Paul, 43, gave up work to become her full-time carer, run the family household and bring up their four children at their home in Deal, Kent. The team at Gala TV were so inspired by Paul’s ability to cope with everything life had thrown at the Humphries family they hand-delivering two tickets to the recent Liverpool vs Arsenal home game, a signed shirt and tour of the Anfield ground! Paul, who hasn’t been to a game in 15 years, was totally surprise and said: “Alison and I were due to go out to do some Christmas shopping for the family, but she seemed to be taking a lot more time to get ready than usual. When Gala TV turned up at my door, I suddenly realised that she had been in on the surprise, which was lovely!” And final winner, Howard Abell, couldn’t believe his luck when he was given the chance to become a live Page 1 Gala TV caller, after his nomination by his partner of 15 years, Claire Wilson. In September the 34-year-old, who is from Doncaster, slipped while playing with their two children on a bouncy castle and broke his sternum chest bone causing six weeks off work. Being self-employed the leave was unpaid, which with Christmas approaching was difficult for the family. A few weeks later Claire broke her hand and if that wasn’t enough to worry about Howard’s new work van was involved in a crash! The team at Gala TV couldn’t believe the couple’s run of bad luck so decided to make sure the year at least ended on a high. Claire led Howard to believe she had won a weekend in London and a visit to the Gala studios. It was only half way through the tour that it was revealed Howard was being given the opportunity to turn his dream of being a Gala TV bingo caller into reality! Howard said: “The visit to the studios was brilliant fun! I’ve been a Gala Bingo fan for years and Claire and I both love playing online and watching Gala TV together, so it was great to see behind the scenes. Everyone at Gala TV was really nice to both of us. It was great to do something really different. It was a fantastic experience.” Gala TV’s manager, Kevin Loman, said: “We’re thrilled that Gala TV’s Festive Full House competition has made such a difference to Dorna, Paul and Howard this Christmas. We wish them all happiness for the New Year.” Gala TV awards 200,000 winners a year and gives away approximately £20,000 each night in prize money.
