QUESTIONS 1400 hrs – 1445 hrs

1. MR. S. J. BROOKS, MP. (KGALAGADI SOUTH): To ask the Minister of (25) Local Government and Rural Development to state:

(i) if he is aware of shortage of classrooms and teachers’ houses at McCarthy's Rust Primary School; and if so,

(ii) what is the plan moving forward and when will additional classrooms be built.

2. MR. M. M. PULE, MP. ( EAST): To ask the Minister of (26) Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs to state progress on the Botswana/Republic of South Africa Bi-National Agreement of 2017 relating to tarring of all roads leading to border posts between the two (2) countries for ease of doing business and if there is no progress, what is the Ministry doing to resuscitate the matter.

3. MR. M. I. MOSWAANE, MP. ( WEST): To ask the Minister (27) of Local Government and Rural Development if he is aware that Social Workers are aggrieved by their Conditions of Service and that their progression is limited; and if so, to state:

(i) If he has engaged them and what is the outcome; and

(ii) when is he planning to review the Social Workers’ payment structure.

4. MR. K. C. HIKUAMA, MP. (NGAMI): To ask the Minister of Health and (28) Wellness to update this Honourable House on the construction of the long promised Gumare Primary Hospital and to state:

(i) if he is aware that the delayed construction of that hospital has compromised the health of the people of Gumare and surrounding villages; and

(ii) when the Gumare community should expect construction of the hospital to commence.

5. MR. J. L. THIITE, MP. ( NORTH): To ask the Minister of Land (29) Management, Water and Sanitation Services if he is aware of Kgonama farm which is 20 kilometres (kms) South of Ghanzi Township and is leased to a syndicate of farmers; and if so, to state:

(i) what was the original purpose of the farm;

(ii) who owns the farm;

(iii) the duration of the lease and its expiry date;

(iv) the duration of the current lease; and

(v) if the lease is renewable and at whose instance.

6. MR. K. NKAWANA, MP. (SELEBI PHIKWE EAST): To ask the Minister of (30) Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism if she is aware that:

(i) some families harvested tonnes of phane early this year;

(ii) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were not able to sell the harvested phane and that it is about to reach the best before use period;

(iii) that the harvest which is valued at several thousands of Botswana Pula will go to waste soon;

(iv) prior to the pandemic successful harvesters would sell their harvest to neighbouring countries especially South Africa; and

(v) when will the Minister facilitate export to such external markets.
