Vol. XLIX Winona State College, Winona, Minn., November 10, 1967 No. 7 Wenonah Players present 'answer' for tamng a shrew by Marilyn McGuire Marital relationships have been a theme of literary works. Shakespeare, in his "Taming of the Shrew," presents the classic answer for the man who wants to subdue his headstrong wife. The Wenonah Players' produc- tion depicted the bawdy comedy in fast moving style. Under the direction of Miss Do- rothy B. Magnus, head of the De- partment of Speech and Theater Arts, the show is the first "open theatre" presentation of Shakes- peare in this area, and is indeed another outstanding accomplish- ment in her long list. The main leads: Kate, played by Jeanne Morrison; Baptista, played by John Perry; and Pet- ruchio, played by Mike Sheimo, were superbly done. Baptista ex- hibited a wide range of appro- priate facial expressions and ges- tures as he played the doting fa- ther anxious to marry off both of his daughters.
