....................................................................... 23-24 Dear Parents and Students, Welcome to POLYTECH athletics! We anticipate another exciting year ahead of us with a talented coaching staff and a great group of student-athletes representing POLYTECH High School! Our coaches and athletes have been working hard for their upcoming competitive seasons. The student-athlete hand book is intended to provide you with some basic information regarding the policies and procedures of POLYTECH athletics. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the information, as it should prove to be helpful in your understanding of the POLYTECH High School athletic program throughout the year. We all have a role to play in the success of POLYTECH athletics. Let the players play, let the coaches coach, let the officials make the calls, and, in doing that, you will be a good fan of POLYTECH athletics! We owe it to our students to set a positive example from the sidelines. Whether you are playing or watching a POLYTECH sporting event, enjoy the fun of interscholastic athletic competition. If you have questions about athletic policies and procedures, please ask a coach or contact me. As always, let’s make it a great year for POLYTECH athletics! It is expected that all absences from practice are communicated directly with the coaching staff. SPORTSMANSHIP The POLYTECH Athletic Department believe that our student athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators should exhibit good sportsmanship and positive school spirit at all times. Respect for officials, coaches, players, and host facilities are essential for raising the standards of good sportsmanship. As stated in the DIAA handbook: a) The School Administrator and Athletic Director shall: (1) Encourage and promote friendly relationships and good sportsmanship throughout the school by requiring courtesy and proper decorum at all times, by familiarizing students and others in the community with the ideals of good sportsmanship, and by publicizing these concepts and attitudes so that all members of all school community understand and appreciate their meaning. (2) Review the Sportsmanship Rule with the athletic staff. (3) Insist upon strict compliance with all DIAA rules and regulations.
