Great Classroom Antics at Madison High!By Joseph Baneth AllenJust finished listening to "Our Miss Brooks - Faculty Feuds" released by Radio Spirits.While Eve Arden brought Miss Connie Brooks delightfully to life on radio, television, and one movie; it's interesting to note that neither she, nor Jeff Chandler - who initially played that ever so shy biology teacher Mr. Philip Boynton - were not CBS' first choice for the roles.Shirley Booth was first to be cast as Miss Brooks; and Mason Adams brought Mr. Boynton to life in the first audition pilot for the show. But Miss Booth didn't want to make fun of underpaid teachers, so she left the show. Veteran radio actress Joan Blondell was selected as the next Miss Brooks, but for reasons unknown, her role was limited to just the second audition pilot.This collections contains shows that feature both Jeff Chandler and Robert Rockwell in the role of Mr. Boynton.Chandler is the best Mr. Boynton because he brings a man-child innocence to the role; unlike Rockwell who comes off as a bit of a stuffed-shirt.Of course, Gale Gordon is perfect as Osgood Conklin."Our Miss Brooks - Faculty Feuds" does contain shows that had been previously released by Radio Spirits in their Our Miss Brooks - Archive Collections.Now because there are people who are easily offended and get upset by people who smoke, by people who spank their children in public, by what they considered to be stereotyping of Native Americans; and the stereotyping of women drivers - if you're one of THOSE types of foolish people, don't listen to this collection.My favorite episodes in this collection are: "The Twin Orphans," "Dyeing Easter Eggs," "Tears for Mr. Boynton," "Bartering With Chief Thundercloud," and "Writing Magazine Articles With Aliases."HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!FIVE STARS
