PRESENT ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION - TWO POUNDS The Society's scope embraces the history, art, and literature of Rome, Italy and the Roman Empire, down to about A.D. 700. Medieval and Renaissance Italy have been left to other bodies already engaged on these subjects. THE JOURNAL OF ROMAN STUDIES The Journal of Roman Studies is published by the Society in half-yearly parts—for the present in one annual volume—and is issued gratuitously and post free to all subscribing members. The Journal is sold to non-subscribers at the rate of £3 a volume. An arrangement has been effected between , the Hellenic Society and the Classical Association by which the Journals of the three bodies will be conducted in harmony.

THE JOINT LIBRARY AND COLLECTIONS The Hellenic and Roman Societies maintain a joint library of some 30,000 books on Greek and Roman art, archaeology, history, literature, and language, and a collection of some 15,000 lantern slides, which are open to members of the Societies. They are housed at 31-34 Gordon Square in juxtaposition with the Institute of Classical Studies of London University, which has taken over all the reference books (about 3,000) formerly belonging to the Societies ; these can be consulted but not borrowed. The library is open from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the Roman Society are entitled in respect of their membership to borrow three books at a time, and to borrow lantern slides at a charge of 4d. each. Both books and slides can be sent by post. Copies of the Joint Library Catalogue and the Slide Catalogue can be borrowed. All communications respecting books and lantern slides should be made to the Librarian or Keeper of Lantern Slides, at 31-34 Gordon Square, London, W.C. 1. MEETINGS Meetings for the reading and discussion of papers are held at Gordon Square or, by permission of the Society of Antiquaries, at Burlington House, Piccadilly, W. 1, and others are arranged at various places in the country. A programme is circulated in September or October.

MEMBERSHIP AND SUBSCRIPTIONS The Society consists of life members, annual members, student-associates and subscribing libraries and institutions. The life-membership composition for persons over fifty years of age is twenty guineas, for others thirty guineas. The annual subscription for members is two pounds, for student-associates one pound. Those who are desirous of joining the Society are invited to communicate with the Secretary at 31-34 Gordon Square, London, W.C. 1, to whom also all subscriptions should be sent.
