We look forward to celebrating our successes and sharing our new strategic plan with you. We welcome your input and involvement. Elections Since the membership passed the constitution to stagger board terms, we will elect approximately half our directors at each AGM. The positions of secretary, treasurer, and three members-at-large will be up for election. Current board members may run for these positions if they are eligible. We welcome all nominations and inquiries. Please see attached nomination package and AGM materials. Accommodations: A block of rooms at the Saskatoon Days Inn (2000 Idylwyld Dr. N, Saskatoon) is available for MCoS delegates until May 21st. Rooms are $121.50/night. MCoS subsidizes accommodation at $25 per night for a maximum of two out-of- town delegates per organization or you can make your hotel reservations at the SaskCulture rate at any of the hotels listed at SaskCulture Hotel rates. It is a celebration of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people and a look at the roles they play in Canada’s past, present and future. There will be exciting events all through June. We look for applications that clearly demonstrate a connection between the activities and the impact they have on the objectives, with an evaluation plan to measure the achievement of those objectives. Mission The Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan is committed to promoting, fostering, improving and developing multiculturalism in the economic, cultural and political life of Saskatchewan while working to achieve equality of all residents. Aims & Objectives a. To promote recognition of the benefits of cultural diversity in Saskatchewan and assist in the development and acceptance of multiculturalism b. To recognize and promote the Saskatchewan motto: From Many Peoples Strength and the Saskatchewan Multicultural Act; c. To foster an environment in which organizations and individuals can contribute to the multicultural development of Saskatchewan; d. To promote positive cross-cultural relations through cross-cultural communication, contact and understanding; e. To recognize the special contribution which refugees and immigrants bring into our province and assist in the integration process through education. f. To recognize the special contributions which First Nations and Métis people provide to our province and encourage cultural competency and intercultural connections. They might also question stereotypes, make privilege visible, and form alliances. 2012-13 examples: Frame to Frame in Stages (drama productions catering to cultural diversity), Ness Creek Intercultural Connections 2 (strengthening intercultural connections between newcomers and First Nations people in Saskatchewan), Spring Free From Racism (Celebrating our cultural diversity through art and singing workshops), Ugandan Canadian Association of Saskatchewan A Pan-African Canadian Socio-Cultural and Leadership Development Project Leading to Mosaic Pavilion(s) in 2014 and Beyond. MCoS has built capacity into the 2013-14 budget to sponsor activities that promote our mission, aims and objectives, while offering opportunities to raise our public profile. We look forward to continuing to develop and enhance our member organizations and our relationships with you as we work toward our shared goals of a culturally vibrant and diverse province.
