Neil, Rebecca, Steve,

Mountain residents a joyous holiday season. We eagerly look forward to 2017 and having even more opportunities to improve the lives of our patients. We are truly blessed and thankyou for allowing us to make a difference in our wonderful community. Thank you for an incredible 2016! TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN NEWS VOL. 1442, 13 December 2016– 17 Colorado: The no nonsense truck that feels like a car Holden calls it a truck but the Colorado LTZ 4x4 crew cab is anything but truck-like. Brisk performance and surprisingly good road handling combine with an acceptably comfortable and roomy cabin to make the Colorado a fun vehicle to drive.

Its 2.8 litre turbo diesel engine gives it a good turn of speed from a standing start and it handles a 1000kg payload with ease. It has an impressive 3.5 tonne towing capacity and features trailer-sway control and hill descent control driver aids that activate the brakes and reduce engine torque if any towing instability is detected.

There is also a forward collision alert, as well as lane departure warning systems

Another surprise about the Colorado is its refined cabin. Its dashboard and instrument panel have a sophisticated look and feel - most car-like in fact.

Features include:

• MyLink infotainment system • 7 inch colour touchscreen Because of its bigger dimensions, the changing unit; using it as a clutchless manual • Built-in app technology Colorado’s rear view camera - which gives adds to the sense of fun driving. • Bluetooth audio streaming an excellent picture on a large colour screen To sum up: The Colorado incorporates many • iPod and auxiliary connectivity – is a practical and welcome feature even for of the best features of a car with the no • Siri Eyes Free the most competent and confident driver. nonsense performance expected of a small • Hands-free calling The rack and pinion steering consistently truck. Again, more like a car than a truck. There is no sensation of floating and the ride and tracking on bends and corners gives the driver an increasingly confident relationship with the vehicle. All in all, a relaxing vehicle to drive, even over long distances. Standard features include seven airbags, stability control and automatic headlights. The front disc- rear drum brake setup worked well, although the Colorado was carrying a fairly light load at the time of testing.

The six-speed automatic transmission is a smooth, quick

TAMBORINE MOUNTAIN NEWS VOL. 1442, 13 December 2016– 27 HOLE-IN-ONE FOR GOLF CLUBHOUSE AMENITIES Seed funding provided through Council’s annual Sport and Recreation Grants program has helped Tamborine Mountain Golf Club secure almost $23,000 in additional assistance from the State Government. The club was one of nine Scenic Rim sporting organisations to have a win in the latest funding rounds of the Get Playing and Get Going programs, administered by the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing, which provide support to grassroots sporting organisations. Mayor Greg Christensen said Council had awarded the golf club a share of the funding pool from this year’s Sport and Recreation Grants to assist its Get Playing application for upgrades to clubhouse amenities. “Council acknowledges the important contribution local sport and recreation groups make to the social fabric of our communities and our Sport and Recreation Grants is one way we can assist these groups,” Cr Christensen said. “In the case of the golf club, they were able to utilise Council’s grant as leverage funding in their application for additional support from the State, which is a fantastic outcome for the club and its membership. Cr Christensen said in addition to seed funding for major projects, Council’s Sport and Recreation Grants program provided support to local groups to undertake infrastructure improvements or purchase equipment. The scope of projects eligible for funding under the program included: the purchase of equipment or construction materials; infrastructure or facility improvements; field or surface upgrades; and leverage funding for larger infrastructure grants. “I congratulate the golf club and the eight other local sporting organisations on their success in the Get Playing and Get Going programs,” he said. GET PLAYING • Boonah Golf Club $61,455 for irrigation • Beaudesert Bowls Club $50,040 for a shade structure • Tamborine Mountain Golf Club $22,850 for amenities upgrade. GET GOING • Tamborine Pony Club $7500 to purchase portable yards • Qld Vintage Moto Cross Club $6500 to deliver a women’s come and try program • Beaudesert Gymnastics Club $7500 to provide coaching accreditation for volunteers • Beaudesert Rugby Union Club $4550 to run a participation and recruitment program • Canungra Golf Club $5534 for IT equipment and training in an electronic scoring platform • Canungra Bowls Club $5548 for membership database software, outdoor scoreboards, junior bowls kits and an umpire kit

Mayor Greg Christensen said Council had been advised that applications for co- funding assistance to construct the new Gallery Walk Community Park and deliver improvements to the Tamborine Memorial Hall precinct had been successful. “It’s an early Christmas gift for both communities and reflects Council’s commitment to leverage co-investment from the State and Federal level to deliver projects which enhance our communities,” he said. “Both projects are planned outcomes of our long-term Vibrant and Active Towns and Villages initiative so the State’s support of these works is a welcome addition to the Council funds already committed to both. “The State Government will co-fund up to 60 per cent of the approved cost of these two community projects under the 2016-17 Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program. The result of this was that most of NSW and Victoria was locked into cooler southerly winds while on the northern side of the trough Queensland was locked into hot and sultry NW winds. These cooler southerly or south-easterly wind changes can be slow moving in the summer and even stall near the border, Fraser Island or even on the central coast. The stalled trough did generate thunderstorms every day and some of these thunderstorms spilled over into south Queensland. We are at the thunderstorm peak now, in December. This is because there is maximum temperature contrast in the atmosphere at the moment - very warm at the surface and cool aloft. Eventually on 7 December the trough moved north across the south-east region with cooler south-easterly winds; this was followed by a secondary pulse on the 9th. Tamborine Mountain Rainfall for November 2016 Looking ahead, the northern Coral Sea surface temperatures are now not November was characterised by a series of troughs and associated thunderstorms from the west as is normal for this time of the year. But when heartbreaking ex Shane comes back into her life, life starts going off the script …. Shane tries to win Kenzi over by re-enacting all the rom com movies they used to watch together - Sleepless in Seattle, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing to name a few. He’s just a guy, standing in front of a girl, asking her to trust him again. But has he really changed? Not only is her head in a spin over Shane, but now her job’s on the line and her fiancé wants to move their wedding up to just six weeks away. Is this going to be a case of a runaway bride? And with her perfect sister in law showing up every tiny thing Kenzi does wrong, she feels like she’s permanently in the corner.
