For Immediate Release: January 16, 2018 Contact: Chelsea Brossard, [email protected] ICYMI: Sara Jacobs Announces Big Local and National Endorsements Sara Jacobs, former Policy Advisor at the State Department and Non-Profit Director running for Congress in California's 49th District, has announced multiple local and national endorsements since launching her campaign just two months ago. Endorsements include EMILY's List and Congressmember Lois Frankel, Chair of the Congressional Democratic Women Working Group, among others. Here's what they had to say about her candidacy: San Diego City Attorney Mara W. Elliott: “Sara is an exceptionally qualified woman who has what it takes to be an effective Member of Congress for our region. Her focus on closing the opportunity gap – which prevents children from getting the education they deserve, families from overcoming the high costs of health care and housing, and our communities from being adequately represented in elected office – will serve our community well. I’m thrilled to throw my full support behind her.” Imperial Beach City Councilmember Mark West: “As a veteran, an environmentalist, and a public servant, I’m thrilled to endorse Sara Jacobs for CA-49,” West said. “Sara and I see eye to eye on the issues and share the same progressive values that called me into public service – protecting our environment while paying special attention to the marginalized communities that are hit the hardest by climate change and environmental injustice, and supporting our service members and veterans and the families who have served and sacrificed alongside us. “As a seasoned policymaker, Sara is uniquely suited to take on the challenges that have dogged Congress for decades – and to put a much-needed focus on how to root out inequality before it becomes a permanent fixture of our economy.” Congressmember Lois Frankel: “In the age of Trump, Sara Jacobs is the perfect antidote. She’s energetic, thoughtful, well spoken, and smart. She’ll be a much-needed new voice in Congress, and her experience in public policy is icing on the cake. While there is so much vitriol coming from the current administration that we have to stand against, Sara gives me hope that voters in Southern California have something and someone to vote for,” Frankel said. “2017 was a difficult year for our country,” she continued, “but it also forced so many important issues into the national spotlight. We’re in the middle of a national reckoning with how we treat women, how we address sexual harassment and assault, how we hold people in power to account, and ultimately, how we change the face of power to better represent our country. We still have a long way to go, but mark my words, 2018 will be the Year of the Woman. I’m excited that Sara will be a part of the seismic shift to come.” EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock: “Sara Jacobs is a passionate, energetic leader who isn’t afraid to tackle big problems. Whether it’s working in key policy positions for the U.S. State Department under the Obama Administration, at UNICEF, and at the United Nations or founding a nonprofit focused on measuring and expanding students’ access to the internet and improving education around the world, Sara will deliver a fresh, new approach to government that creates economic opportunity and works for Southern California families.” “Meanwhile, Congressman Darrell Issa has failed to stand up for Southern Californians, instead voting for President Donald Trump’s agenda 95% of the time. Sara Jacobs brings the expertise and a fresh, new approach that Southern California families deserve from their leaders in Congress - and EMILY’s List is proud to support her.” For more information, please visit www.sarajacobsforca.com. ## Paid for by Sara Jacobs for Congress .
