Page Scholastic Bowl Sand Valley Tournament By Tucker Peterson On Saturday March 14, the West Central Scholastic Bowl team traveled to Dallas City to participate in the Sand Valley Tournament. In the first game, it was West Central Vs. LaHarpe/Dallas City. There were 6 teams in total. The final score was 230-105 West Central. Wesley Stewart had 5 toss-ups, Tucker Peterson had 4 toss-ups, and Eric Rathbone and Jacob Keever had 1 toss-up. In the second game, it was West Central Vs. Abingdon/Avon. In the mid- dle of the game, we were down by 50 or 60, and then Conner Hill came in and won the game for us answering ques- tions about T.V. and Science and getting 4 parts on a bonus question about superheroes. The final score was 175-150 West Central. Conner Hill had 4 toss-ups, Tucker Peterson had 3 toss-ups, and Wesley Stewart had 2 toss-ups. In the championship game, it was West Central Vs. Bushnell/Prairie City. The final score was a beatdown 125-230 Bush- nell/Prairie City. Tucker Peterson had 4 toss-ups and Wesley Stewart had 2 toss-ups. So West Central got 2nd place in the tournament!!! This was like the 7th grade basketball Sand Valley in a way, by playing the same opponents in dif- ferent order, and the outcomes of the games being similar. I am counting this as a win for both 6/7th Grade and 7/8th Grade because at least one 6th grader played in all the games. So both teams are 3-3. Scholastic Bowl 3/17 and 3/19 By Tucker Peterson Unfortunately, we do not have stats or scores on these following 2 games. On March 17, the West Central Scho- lastic Bowl Team traveled to Bushnell to play Bushnell/Prairie City. The 6/7th game was close and we lost, the 7th/8th grade also lost. After this game, both teams are 3-4. On March 19, Dallas City/LaHarpe traveled to our school to play us. The 6th/7th grade lost and the 7th/8th Grade won. 6th/7th are 3-5 and 7th/8th are 4-4. High School Play: The Wizard of Oz By: Jayde “There‟s no place like home!”, said Dorothy. Those were the last lines of the play before the curtains closed. The play at the high school was hilarious! The only thing I found that was bad there, was that you could barely hear them, and that they kept forgetting their lines (besides Dorothy).
