In fact, it might be for the best if you did. Even with a record poor showing overall, however, Country also had its share of notably strong performances on the station level. The November survey started Oct. 8 and concluded the day after Election Day. For that period, aggregate Country shares in PPM markets stood at its lowest total (excluding Holiday books) since the start of PPM measurement, with four stations setting new low water marks. And for the first time in the PPM era, the format experienced a non-Holiday month without a single market being led by a Country station. The apparent culprit: News-Talk. Just how big were News-Talk’s gains for the month? The aggregate 6+ share for all PPM subscribing News-Talk stations in September was 577.5. October rose to 623.0 and, by November, that number had jumped to 658.0 – a 14% increase over two Happy Holi-Glaze: Country Aircheck months.     A HOUSE OF PRAYER for all nations The start of a year is somewhat of a new start. Here in Smyrna, starting the year in prayer is important to us. It is our deepest desire to follow our Lord´s will together in all we do. That´s why every now and then we need to ca- librate our compass and decide the direction. That´s why a period of seeking God in prayer is the best possible start, both for us as individuals and together as a church. We want to support you and your daily devotions during the prayer period with this booklet. We challenge you during this period to take an extra daily moment in prayer during this period. We also want to encourage you to participate in some of our corporate prayer gathe- rings (Monday-Friday 12.00 and 18.00, Sunday 10.00, 14.00,18.00). Another tool that can help focus in prayer is fasting. Fasting is to decide for a period of time to withhold from something that actually is good (you should always withhold from bad things). A fast is a food-fast. It can be withholding from all food or just certain meals or types of food. Over the past few years we have recommended the Daniel Fast, which means eating vegetables or vegan depending on how strictly you interpret it. On Smyrna’s website we will be posting some tips and recipes concer- ning this. Another type of fasting is withholding from something that otherwise is a natural part of your life.
