Ball State Tops List In The Latest NCAA APR

With a perfect score of 1,000 the Ball State womens’ basketball program topped the list in the latest NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate Report. The Cardinals perfect score of 1,000 was well above the national avearage.

Ball State has also posted above 90 percent rates of success in each of the last five NCAA Division I Graduation Success Rates reports, including a perfect mark for the 2010-11 report.

Ball State began as a private normal school in 1899. Eventually the campus and buildings were purchased by the Ball brothers, a group of Muncie industrialists, and given to the state of Indiana in 1918.

The institution was named Ball Teachers College in 1922 and Ball State Teachers College in 1929. The school became a university in 1965, and its 660- acre residential campus now includes more than 60 buildings and 300 additional acres of research property.

he Ball State University women’s basketball team was one of four teams to compete at the fifth annual Caribbean Classic in December of 2010 in Cancun, Mexico. The Cardinals Tjoined Alabama Birmingham, Illinois State and Nevada Reno at the tournament which was hosted by Triple Crown Sports. The Ball State women’s basketball team enjoyed a nice stay at the Aventura Palace Resort in Riveria Maya, Cancun, Mexico.

he Ball State women’s basketball team headed to Canada for a foreign trip to Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, Aug. 9-15. On the trip, the Cardinals played four games under first T-year head coach Brady Sallee. Ball State posted a 2-2 record on the trip while enjoying sight- seeing and activities throughout Canada.

Ball State student-athletes have collected 40 Academic All-America First Team honors, while earning 32 second team awards, 13 third team awards and six honorable mention awards. Two student-athletes - - Sally Northcroft (1999-2000) and Kate Endress (2004-05) - - have been honored as an Academic All-American of the Year. The Cardinals’ 96 Academic All-America selections is among the nation’s leaders in Academic All-America history by NCAA Division I schools. Ball State student-athletes have collected 40 Academic All-America First Team honors, while earning 32 second team awards, 13 third team awards and six honorable mention awards. Two student-athletes - - Sally Northcroft (1999-2000) and Kate Endress (2004-05) - - have been honored as an Academic All-American of the Year. The Cardinals’ 96 Academic All-America selections is among the nation’s leaders in Academic All-America history by NCAA Division I schools. Ball State’s women’s basketball program is tied for seventh all-time among Division I Academic All-Americans with nine. The Capital One Academic All-American teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
