Micro project 1- Łęczna and Kovel – cross-border towns of two traditions and cultures Partners in the Micro project 1: The Centre of Culture in Łęczna (Micro project 1 - Lead Partner), Kovel Town Council Executive Committee (Micro project 1 - Partner 1), vul. Nezalezhnosti 73, 45000 Kovel, Volyn oblast, Ukraine local government unit The activities planned within the micro project 1: 1. The project inaugurating conference The official launch of the project will take place in Kovel, Ukraine, and will be in a form of the project opening conference. The conference will last 2 days and will gather 25 participants (13 representatives from Łęczna and 12 people representing the town of Kovel). The micro-project Lead partner will be the organizer of the conference, while micro-project Partner 1 will actively participate in common preparation of the event. The conference will be combined with the two-day study visit of 13 representatives of the Municipality of Łęczna to Kovel. During the meeting, the detailed rules for the cooperation in the joint project will be discussed. In addition to representatives of local governments and cultural institutions the delegation will also include artists – photographers and painters and folk artists from Łęczna who, during a meeting with Ukrainian partners, will learn about the people involved in local cultural activities which will be the inspiration for preparing joint events and works of art within the project. 2. The Łęczyński Fair The activities will include a two-day cultural event that will be held in Łęczna with the participation of artists and authors from Łęczna and Kovel. Residents of both towns will present their local tradition, culture and customs. The Łęczyński Fair will be the new common cultural event, which will initiate further joint initiatives of local community of Łęczna and Kovel in the field of culture and common traditions. During the Łęczyński Fair the following undertakings will take place: exhibitions of local artists, photographers, craftsmen, presentations of crafts of folk artists, concerts of local artists and vocal presentations of children and the youth , presentation of Slavonic traditions, staging of knights customs and stage performances. Authors will have the opportunity to share their artistic experience. Artists from both cities will present their work and will be able to confront it with reference to the artistic activities of their neighbours from the partner city. The event will provide the opportunity for cultural exchange and will enable to make new contacts in artists’ environment in both towns. During the event, artists from partner towns will present themselves before the audience from the Łęczna community, whereas Ukrainian artists, in addition to presenting their local culture and traditions, will have an opportunity to learn about local customs and traditions of Łęczna. A wide range of artistic activities – stage performances, activities of photographers, artists and craftsmen as well as exhibitions of their work will permit presenting tradition and culture of both trans- border cities fully and representatively enough. The organization of The Łęczyński Fair will contribute to the development of contacts in artists’ environments, as well as to the promotion and better understanding of the traditions and culture of the partner town. The organization of the event will enable to make closer contacts between the two communities. 35 representatives of the town of Kovel and 5 representatives from Łęczna will participate in the two- day Łęczyński Fair. The number of Polish participants is 250 persons that consist of about 220 participants of dance and vocal presentations, about 20 members of local music groups, about 10 local artists. About 6000 residents and guests of Łęczna will participate in the event as the audience. 3. The Festival of Two Cultures in Kovel Within the activity the two-day cultural event with the participation of artists and authors of Łęczna and Kovel will be organized. The residents of both towns will present their local tradition, culture and customs. The event will allow an exchange presentation of the works of Polish artists in the town of the Ukrainian partner. The residents will have the opportunity to learn about the traditions, culture and works of artists from Poland in the context of performances of Ukrainian artists. During the Festival of Two Cultures the following undertakings will take place: culinary presentation and tasting of regional dishes of the countries of partner towns, exhibitions, presentations of crafts of folk artists and concerts. 35 representatives of the Municipality of Łęczna, 5 representatives from Kovel and 160 artists will participate in the festival. About 6000 residents and guests of Kovel will participate in the event as the audience. 4. The compilation of a common bilingual (Polish – Ukrainian) text-photographic publication summarizing and promoting the project „The wealth of the borderland – Łęczna and Kovel. Friendship, culture and traditions” The activity covers the preparation, including the execution of texts, translations and photos and printout of bilingual (Polish and Ukrainian) publication containing photographs and texts, which will report on the implementation of common cross-border project, present and promote its results and impact, it will also present: the achievements of the partner cities in the field of culture, art and common traditions, natural resources and environmental-natural-cultural-historical values accenting partnership and cooperation of Łęczna and Kovel, information about the involvement of EU funds in the project. The publication will be done in 500 copies. 5. Project final and summarizing conference The official end of the project will take place in Łęczna and will be in the form of the project final and summarizing conference. The conference will last 2 days and will gather 25 participants (12 representatives from Łęczna and 13 people representing the town of Kovel). The micro-project Partner 1 will be the organizer of the conference, while micro-project Lead partner will actively participate in common preparation of the event. The conference will be combined with the two-day study visit of 13 representatives of the town of Kovel to Łęczna. The aim of the conference is to summarize the substantive activities identified in the project, and promote the effects of its implementation. During the meeting, the detailed results and effects of cooperation within the joint project will be discussed. In addition to representatives of local governments and cultural institutions the delegation will also include artists - photographers and painters as well as folk artists from Kovel who, during the meeting with Polish partners, will present their works of art done within the project. Event accompanying the conference the joint art exhibition as the presentation of artistic work of artists from Łęczna and Kovel. The visit will serve the experiences exchange between the partners, cooperation, monitoring implementation of the project and its promotion. During the conference the bilingual text-photographic publication summarizing and promoting the project "The wealth of the borderland – Łęczna and Kovel. Friendship, culture and traditions” will be presented, Expected results: 1. A project-opening conference has been organised (13 participants from Poland (study tour participants), 12 participants from Ukraine). 2. Łęczna Fair has been organised (6000 recepients, 250 artists, 35 participants from partner countries) 3. Festival of Two Cultures in Kovel has been organised (6000 recepients, 250 artists, 35 participants from partner counrty) 4. A common, bilingual (Polish and Ukrainian) textual and photographic publication has been developed. It summarizes and promotes the project entitled "The richness of borderlands - Łęczna and Kovel. Friendship, culture and traditions"” (500 copies) 5. A summarizing conference has been organized (13 participants from Ukraine (study tour participants), 12 participants from Poland). Micro project 2 - Let's meet our cultures - Cooperation between the Municipality of Goraj and the Municipality of Zabolottia Partners in the Micro project 2: Goraj Community (Micro project 2 - Lead Partner), Zabolottia Settlement Council (Micro project 2 - Partner 1), vul. Nezalezhnosti 6, 44142 Zabolottia, Ratne raion, Volyn oblast, Ukraine, local government unit The activities planned within the micro project 2: 1. Promotional brochure. The publication promoting cultural values of the Municipality of Goraj and the Municipality of Zabolottia - 400 pcs. - (40 pages + cover), presented in Ukrainian and Polish languages, will include: - information on the events organized periodically in the Municipality of Goraj and the Municipality of Zabolottia, - photographs and descriptions of interesting places in the Municipalities participating in micro-project (e.g. monuments, small architecture, meeting places of the inhabitants), - addresses of important institutions in the Municipalities (offices, churches, police station, fire station), - maps of the Municipalities showing culturally and institutionally important places, - logos and the cross-border programme and the EU. Materials for publication will be collected by the coordinators, both in Poland and in Ukraine, and then will be submitted to the Coordinator Lead Partner of the micro-project and commissioned for preparation and print. The publication will be distributed during the on-going events and after the project
