Asked if that was the reason for selling Beach Frolic, John Warren said: “It’s the end of an era, because we have been involved so closely with Floors for 35 years and it has been poignant this week. I’m delighted that the Duchess and her son George will be carrying on with a few nice mares, but this climaxed the end of a really great friendship with the Duke, who was a special friend – his daughter is my god-daughter and our youngest is his godson, so we were very close. It goes beyond the horses, although this was a magnificent mare, a collector’s item. “We know how hard it is to breed top-class horses and that is what we strive to achieve. Everyone does. When it pays off it proves you can achieve a goal if you keep trying and breeding and rearing the right horses. Rearing is so important and so specific, and to get them L-R: Jake, John and Lady Carolyn Warren consigned the top through hoops to get them to the races or to the sales is a big lot yesterday at Tattersalls, in partnership with Floors Stud, as achievement in itself.” Lot 1731, Beach Frolic (Nayef), dam of dual Gr.1 hero Lady Carolyn paid tribute to the Highclere Stud staff, saying: Palace Pier, found a new home for 2,200,000gns. “They do such an amazing job day in and day out. These are the big © Tattersalls.com days, but behind that there is the daily care and attention in all weathers. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 NO COOLING OFF 'JERSEY JOE' NO MORE, BRAVO TO RIDE PERMANENTLY IN CALIFORNIA SUB-ZERO'S JIM BAKKE by Bill Finley When Joe Bravo decided to leave New Jersey because of new regulations banning the use of the whip, his future was unclear. He had been riding at the Jersey Shore track since the late 1980s and has been leading rider there 13 times. But rather than struggling outside of the Garden State, Bravo is having a meet to remember at his new home, Del Mar. With a week to go in the meet, Bravo has 20 wins, good for fifth in the standings.
