JIM VAN DER MEER MOHR Gouverneur-generaals van Nederlands-Indië in beeld In dit artikel worden de penningen beschreven die de afgelo- pen eeuwen zijn geproduceerd over de gouverneur-generaals van Nederlands-Indië. Gommans Preface The picture on the cover is a Javanese civil servant, employed by the Dutch colonial government as a teacher - mantri goeroe. He is seated together with a pupil on the left and a servant on the right. The servant and the sirih-box for betel nuts imply his high social status. Schmelzer 2012 Bl.Bl. 2 2 Inleiding en verantwoording Deze genealogie van het geslacht van der Capellen bestaat uit drie delen. 1 Een artikel over het geslacht van der Capellen uit het Vaderlandsch Woordenboek van Jacobus Kok uit 1780. Dit artikel hebben wij bewerkt en na iedere tak voorzien van een grafische stamboom om een en ander te verduidelijken. De nummering van Kok hebben wij aangepast. Onze nummering is als volgt: 1= vader, 2= oudste zoon, 3= oudste kleinzoon etc. Als b.v. tak 1 loopt tot nr. 8 dan krijgt een zijtak nr. 10, 11 etc. De 9 hebben wij hierin niet meegenomen. Dochters en zonen die geen nakomelingen met de naam van der Capellen hebben, krijgen het nummer van hun vader toebedeeld met een toevoeging -1 etc. Het artikel van Kok is overigens in 1783 opnieuw uitgegeven door een anonimicus bij een niet genoemde drukkerij. Dit is geen overdruk want het lettertype is anders. Ofschoon de tekst nagenoeg gelijk is, zijn er hier en daar toch enkele afwijkingen in te bespeuren. Wij hebben de tekst van deze anonimicus vergeleken met Kok waardoor enkele foutjes konden worden hersteld. 2 De onder 1 genoemde genealogie loopt tot ~1750. Om de genealogie te completeren, hebben wij die v/a Bl. 48 aangevuld tot op heden. Hier hebben wij eerst een grafische stamboom geplaatst met daarna een verantwoording van de genoemde personen. De bronnen voor deze aanvullingen ontlenen wij in hoofdzaak aan het Nederland’s Adelsboek. 3 De verschillende takken van het geslacht van der Capellen beheerden een familiearchief. -

1 Graduate African American History Reading List, Department of History, Rutgers University Overview The following reading list provides a general overview of the subjects and texts that students should study in preparing to write their African-American Minor and Major exams. Students are encouraged to use this list to develop their own personalized exam reading lists. How to Use this List Beginning well in advance of the planned exam date, you should plan to update and personalize this list to include any recently published works not yet on the list, as well as any important African American history texts you consider central to your own study of the field. From there, you can plan your exam reading by marking off texts that you have read, and the texts you plan to read. You will not be expected to master all the books and articles on the list, but should have some command of most of the subject areas. Once you have put together your own annotated and updated version of the list you should plan meet with your examiners to discuss and review your personalized list and reading plan. Such meetings should occur well in advance of your exam date and will allow you to confirm that your list is up-to-date, and that you are reading a suitable selection of texts.
