GECA: Ballston Location Desktop & Touchscreen Instruction Manual Quick Reference Desktop Monitor Touchcreen Monitor Your classroom will either have a traditional computer monitor, or it may be one of three that is equipped with a Touchscreen Monitor. You may request in advance to have the Front Desk swap the traditional monitor with one of our three Touchscreen Monitors, subject to availability. The advantages of the Touchscreen Monitor include: • Write directly on the monitor screen, which shows on the video projector, without turning your back to the class. • Annotate over any image, document, web page, PowerPoint, video or running application • Save your notes in various formats, for email or printing How to Use Desktop Monitor Shake the mouse or hit the spacebar on the keyboard and the monitor will display. If it does not, check the monitor’s power light, at the far bottom right of the screen frame. If it is not on or not blinking at one second intervals, press the power button, which is on the far bottom right of the screen frame. Touchscreen Monitor Operation Mode of the Electromagnetic Pen · When the pen is used to write on the whiteboard/template, it functions as a pen, brush, or eraser depending on the selected function. · When the pen is used to press the buttons on the application software toolbar, it functions as “clicking” the buttons. · When the pen is used as a drawing tool (straight line, square, or circle), just tap the pen on the screen and drag it onto the desired location and then lift it up at the end point to create an image. PC Mode of the Electromagnetic Pen · When the pen is held close to the screen but not touching the screen, it operates like the movement of your mouse. · When the pen touches/taps the screen, it functions as the “Left Click” of a mouse. · When you tap and drag the pen, it functions as the “Dragging” action of a mouse. · When you hold the pen close to the screen, and click the bottom of the switch on the side of the electromagnetic pen (1), it functions as the “Right Click” of a mouse. · When you hold the pen close to the screen, and click the top of the switch on the side of the electromagnetic pen (2), it functions as the “Double Left Click” of a mouse. (1) Button nearest the tip: Mouse “Right Click” (2) Second Button: Mouse “Double Left Click” Meaning of Indicators Quick Fix Desktop Monitor Press the “Auto” button (see #7 on diagram below) to fix many issues. Press the Power button off, then on (see # 8 on diagram below) to fix many issues. Note the locations of all the cables on the back of the monitor. Disconnect, then reconnect all cables on the back of the monitor to fix many issues. Touchscreen Monitor If the pen is not aligned with the monitor, calibrate it. Use your right mouse button to click the “Calibration” icon located in the system tray Click the icon with the writing pen and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the panel calibration. No Image Make sure the VGA cable from the panel is connected to the computer properly, the AC Adaptor is connected and the green indicator light is on, and finally the panel monitor is turned on. Mouse cursor not responding on panel a. Check that the USB from the panel is plugged into the computer. b. Please check the pen and make sure that there is a AAA battery, and the pen is turned on by pushing in the button at the top of the pen. If it still does not function, try with a new battery. Press the Power button off, then on (see # 8 on diagram below) to fix many issues. Note the locations of all the cables on the back of the monitor.
