This FOI Information Statement is provided in accordance with the requirements of Section 94 of the Act. 2.0 About South Metropolitan TAFE South Metropolitan TAFE became a statutory authority under the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 on the 11 April 2016. South Metropolitan TAFE was established as part of the Training Sector Reform Project in 2016, which saw the union of two previous institutes, Polytechnic West and Challenger Institute of Technology. South Metropolitan TAFE operates across the diverse south metropolitan region of Perth, and as far south as Peel.
