Celebrating our community On Friday 30th November 2018, Arborfield Green was treated to its annual Christmas fair and lights switch on at their local Community Centre. The event was a great opportunity for all Arborfield Green residents to come together at the start of the festive season at the historical military site. Highlights of the evening included Saint Sebastian Wokingham Band playing Christmas carols and a visit from Santa. The fair culminated with the Christmas tree lights switch on outside the Community Centre. TEAM LEADER uk 1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1.1 Wokingham Borough Council is consulting on the next stage of preparing its Local Plan. This stage is a full draft plan. Consultation will last until 20th March. The plan sets out planning policies and identifies land for development up to 2036, and there are a number of implications for Reading. This report recommends that a draft response on behalf of Reading Borough Council be approved. 1.2 By far the most significant new site in the draft Local Plan is at Grazeley, just to the south of Reading. This proposal is for a development of 15,000 new homes, of which 10,000 would be in Wokingham and 5,000 in West Berkshire. Reading Borough Council has been working closely with its neighbours on taking this proposal forward and ensuring that any development is accompanied by timely delivery of the very significant infrastructure required. This report provides an update on the progress of this joint working so far. 2. RECOMMENDED ACTION 2.1 That the consultation response to the Wokingham Local Plan Update: Draft Plan (Appendix 1) be approved. 2.2 That Committee note the current position on Grazeley Garden Town.
