We found out one morning shortly before Easter when we held our annual bonnet decorating class. Various flowers, bunnies, chicks and colored eggs were laid out on the table and everyone set to making their own fun-filled, “spring is in the air” Easter bonnet! We had elegant bows and flowers bedeck some, while others were whimsical and fun. On the Friday before Easter, we held a little Easter parade, and all who made a bonnet were led through the dining room accompanied by Joanna, the assistant manager, singing the “In Your Easter Bonnet” song. What a fun-filled time of year, with colors blooming all around and the promise of warmer days and sunshine. Highlanders definitely have a “spring” in their step.

Nancy’s bonnet was Ann Marie looking quite lovely Margaret and Christine full of whimsy. Highland’s Amazing Library On the 2nd floor is a special treasure — our very own lending library. Hundreds and hundreds of wonderful and well organized books line the walls, comfy chairs beckon, peace and quiet surround you and wonderful views of the woods invite you to stay awhile. A fireplace adds to the ambience in winter months (but we won’t mention the “W” word right now). Borrowing a book is simple — just make your selection and take it. No need to sign it out as we operate on the honor system. Books are organized into categories: Books on CD, new donations, nonfiction, mysteries and so on. There is also a growing selection of large print books and each week there is a “featured book” recommended by another resident. Please return books into the basket marked “Returns.” Should you wish to donate a book that is in good condition, place it in the container marked “Donations.” Also keep in mind, if there is a title you cannot find, our Westborough Town Librarian Dan is sure to find it for you. You can contact him at the library or place a request in the box in the Activity Room.
