Five measures before letter I, the left and right drum sticks need to be put away in order to perform the adlib section in the next measure. This can be done by laying the sticks on a music stand, by placing them in a drum suspended stick bag, or by simply holding them securely underneath the arms. The hand executed adlib section can last as long as the performer desires. Care should be taken to insure that musical ideas presented during the adlib are improvisationally creative.

The opening measures of letter I containing the long double stroke roll, the swiss army triplets, and the flam flams are meant to be transitional in nature. Each ofthe three measures can be sustained as long as the performer desires as long as the transitions from measure to measure are subtle and smooth. The overall intent is to create the illusion that each rudiment gradually becomes the next. Since each ofthe three notated rudiments are primarily based on double strokes, the above mentioned illusion can be achieved by simply shirring from the end of one rudiment into the beginning ofthe next.

With the exception of the numerical marking at letter A, all tempo selections should be determined by each individual performer's capabilities; however, since Solo #25 is in the extremely advanced category, a close adherence to indicated tempos is strongly encouraged. Care should be taken to perform all extended thirty-second note roll combinations as unaccented as is possible. The long double stroke roll in the ninth measure after letter D can be held as long as the performer desires.
