THE PUGET SOUND ROCKET Newsletter of the Puget Sound Olds Club An Official Chapter of the Club of America

OCTOBER 2017

Above is the show field at the Annual BOP Show at

the XXX Root Beer Drive-In on Sept. 3.

The 2017 BOP Show was blessed with good weather. There was no rain this year! We did have some smoke from the wild fires in the mountains that dropped ash on our late in the day. The run of 80 degree plus days continued for our show. 57 registered cars and eight un-registered cars were on the show field. dominated the show with 24 cars in attendance. The chapters brought 17 cars and the Pontiac clubs had 16 registered cars on the field.

The date for the 2018 BOP Show has been selected and as this year, it will the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. If you missed the show this year (and we know who you are), you now have time to put the date on your calendar, fix whatever is not working on your , and join us for another great show. If you will need a wake-up call, send us an e-mail and we will have the front desk call you.

Earlier in September, we attended the funeral service for Esther Thompson who passed away in August. Esther was the “original” newsletter editor of the Puget Sound Rocket. She was a part of the foundation that built the Puget Sound Olds Club as we know it today. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband Ken the members of their family. For many years, Esther and Ken graced Puget Sound Olds functions with “Old Blue” their 1950 Olds 98 Sedan. When you see Ken, give him a hug to show our support of him in our chapter.

Parting shot…

If you recognize this…you are really old!

For the younger generation, this is a test pattern that the TV channels would show as they played the National Anthem at midnight. This would stay on the screen until sign on in the morning. How times have changed!
