He married (1) Mary Derickson/Dirickson, daughter of William Dirickson/Derickson and Arcadah Hazzard. She was born 18 February 1755 in Worcester County, Maryland and died Bef. 1798. Possibly, he married (2) Naomi (_____). BIRTH – William Lockwood: F. Edward Wright, Maryland Eastern Shore Vital Records 1726- 1750, Bk. 2, (1983, rpt. Willow Bend Books 2001), St. Martin’s P. E. Benjamin Lockwood’s Last Will and Testament lists William second in order of bequeaths. Therefore, birth date of William is based on these two documents. BIRTH – Mary Derickson: Transcription, Register of St. Martins Church, Worcester Parish, Worcester County Maryland 1722-1839, San Francisco, CA: The Chapter 1952 DAR, p. 10. William Dirickson and Arcadah hazard wors married ye 7 day of aprel 1752. Mary Dirickson Daughter of Wm Dirickson wors Born ye 18 of February 1755; Elizabeth Dirickson Daughter of William Dirickson and Arcadah his wife was bourn the 5 day of August 1757. MARRIAGE – Worcester County (Maryland) Wills, JW2:188. Last Will and Testament of William Dirickson 7 April 1758 divides his estate between his two daughters Mary Dirickson and Elizabeth Dirickson. Sussex County (Delaware) Deeds, AF29:63-65, FHL #6639. Zadock Aydelott from John Howard and Wife 20 April 1810. Witnesses that John Howard and Betsey his wife for and in consideration of $350 in hand paid have granted unto Zadock Aydelott a certain piece of Land situated in Baltimore Hundred being a part of a tract of Patten Land called Vine’s Neck. The certificate of said Patten bearing date 17 May 1725 for 711 acres more or less. Know that a certain William Dirickson was seized with the Right and title of the whole of the Land contained in the Patten called Vine’s Neck in his lifetime and in his Last Will and Testament bearing date 7 April 1758 devised the above mentioned Lands to his two Daughters namely Mary and Elizabeth. Mary to have the lower part and Elizabeth the upper part of the land. Now know that the said Mary Direckson married a certain William Lockwood (of Benjamin) she dying intestate leaving seven children namely Rebecca, Betsey, Salley, Arcada, Mary, Benjamin and Nancy. This indenture further witnesseth that one of the above described Heirs namely Mary Lockwood who has married a certain John Aydelott did on 19 April 1810 sign seal execute a Deed of grant unto John Howard who is a granter of this for her part of this afs.d Intestate Lands. Last Will and Testament of Benjamin Lockwood dated 20 April 1809. “Secondly, I give and bequeath one seventh part of my personal or movable property as aforesaid to Rebecca Aydelott, Betsy Howard, Sarah Johnson, Arcadah Aydelott, Mary Aydelott, Benjamin Lockwood, Nancy Lockwood, and Lydia Lockwood. Children of my son William Lockwood to be equally divided amongst them. SECOND GENERATION 1. Rebecca Lockwood m. Thomas Aydelott – No record of birth or marriage. Thomas and John Aydelott, sons of John Aydelott, Bricklayer. John married Mary Lockwood, and Thomas married Rebecca Lockwood, Aaron Aydelott married Arcada Lockwood. Aaron was the son of Samuel Aydelott. Tradition has it that these three Aydelott boys with their wives moved to Ohio at or about the same time, and settled in Butler County and surrounding areas”. Aydelott transcribed the Will of Thomas Aydelott of Montgomery Co., Indiana dated 29 Jan 1848 [[Order Bk. 4, p. 253]. Note following transcription: “The above Thomas Aydelott is the son of John Aydelott, Bricklayer of Sussex County, Del. Thomas had a brother John Aydelott. These two boys married two Lockwood girls, Thomas married Rebecca Lockwood and John married Mary. Both boys moved to Ohio shortly after the year 1800. Aaron Aydelott who married Arcada Lockwood and they all moved to Ohio at or about the same time. The above Will was written by Thomas after his first wife, Rebecca had died and he had married a widow by the name of Mary Crane”. 2 X6477/3 The History of the Aydelotte Family (p. 4) gives the following children for Thomas and Rebecca: 1. Witness that said Thomas Aydelott, Rebecca Aydelott, Luke Johnson, and Sarah Johnson for and in consideration of the sum of 185 pounds to them in hand paid by John Howard. All our parts or parcels of a tract of Land called Vines Neck that falleth to us by division of Mary Lockwood estate. John Howard for and in consideration of $300 to him in hand paid by Uriah Thomas a certain piece or tract of Land situate in Baltimore Hundred being part of a tract called Vines Neck being a Lott of Land laid out to Nancy Lockwood one of the heirs of William Lockwood now Nancy McMakin being the Lott was No. 5 in division of said land. Witness that Nancy McMakin together with her husband John McMakin did by their deed convey unto John Howard 18 May 1819. Now this indenture John Howard to Uriah Thomas.     Delaware Revolutionary Tax Lists from the Delaware Public Archives Subcommittee of Revolutionary Taxes, Genealogy Committee, National Society Sons of the American Revolution John D. Sinks, Harold Ford, and Tilghman McCabe, Jr. March 17, 2016 Purpose of the Report Background. The state of Delaware first passed tax laws in 1777. There were earlier colonial laws, but of course none of them were passed to support the Revolution or to address requests of the Continental Congress. The Delaware tax lists that provide evidence of Patriotic Service for the Sons of the American Revolution must date between 1777 and 1783 inclusive. Every state tax levied by Delaware from 1777 through 1783, supported the War, including some that addressed a request of the Continental Congress. This included retiring bills of credit, an action requested several times by the Continental Congress in order to maintain the financial underpinnings of the Revolution. A colonial law authorizing counties to levy taxes to support civil functions remained in effect throughout the Revolution, so there is a need to distinguish county taxes (which do not provide evidence of Patriotic Service), from state taxes and combined county and state taxes (which do provide evidence of Patriotic Service). The Delaware Public Archives has custody of a number of Revolutionary tax records for the three counties of the state as well as county levy court records. These records include lists of assessments made from 1777 through 1783 as well as lists of delinquents for Kent County. By virtue of delinquency for a tax supporting the War, a taxpayer does not qualify for patriotic service even if the tax supporting the War was paid late.
