There is a marriage record IGI, Batch M514511, 1803-1879, Familysearch.org, for John Howard and Mary Ann Whitlock 22 June 1826 in Butler County, Ohio. It is possible that Betsey died before 1826 and John remarried. Interestingly, there is the reported marriage (see note below Sarah Lockwood) of Mary Johnson/Johnston to Elias B. Whitlock and The History of the Aydelotte Family has a marriage for Mary Aydelott (dau of Aaron Aydelott) to James Whitlock.

Just connected with Peter Whitlock of the Whitlock Association and Mark Whitlock who is interested in this line. He gave me the following information regarding Sarah Johnson family. Daughter Mary Johnson was born 1805 in Delaware and died 25 Mar 1886 in Piqua; buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Married Elias Whitlock 15 Oct 1827 in Butler Co., Ohio by Rev. Sayman. Original land sale 25 Aug 1829 of 80 acres in Montgomery Co., Ohio, Clay Twp. Sec. 30, E ½ of NW ¼. They moved to Piqua, Ohio about 1870. He has photograph of Mary, Elias and their homestead in Piqua. Mary’s mother was Sarah. Mary’s only daughter was Sarah. Isaac Johnson Whitlock (1828-1892) was the first son of Elias and Mary [Whitlock]. A few Johnson stories: Sarah Johnson died on the trip to Ohio and was buried on the south side of the

6 X6477/7

Ohio River somewhere between Wheeling, West Virginia and Cincinnati, Ohio. The trip was after Ohio statehood and after Sarah was born (my guess is about 1810). Elias who married Mary Johnson [Elias Whitlock and Mary Johnston 15 Oct 1827 Butler Co., Ohio familysearch.org M514511] had a brother James (1804-1877) who married a Mary (1813?-1879?) of unknown family. This James lived near Gano, Butler Co., Ohio as did his father John Whitlock. I understand the cemetery where they were all buried was moved to make way for the interstate around Cincinnati.

I am following up with Mark Whitlock. Note that The History of the Aydelotte Family shows a marriage for Mary Aydelott (dau Aaron and Arcadah Aydelott) to James Whitlock.

Note: I cannot verify this information as I have not researched the children of Arcadah and Aaron. It should be noted that the book claims that Isaac was born 18 Nov 1802 Fort Washington, Ohio and from the deeds above, this is not correct as the family had not moved to Ohio in 1802.

8. Lydia, child of William Lockwood and Naomi ? (______) Lydia Lockwood – Prince George’s Church, Sussex County (Dagsboro) Delaware, FHL #6321, p. 46. A record of birth for Lydia, Daughter of William and Neomy Lockwood, b. 2 Jan 1798. I know of no other William Lockwood during this time period and place that had a child named Lydia, so believe it is possible that this is the Lydia mentioned in her Grandfather Lockwood’s Will. Sussex County (Delaware) Probate , RG 4545, Administration of William Lockwood was granted to Thomas Aydelott. In the final accounting, it shows that the balance of the estate was divided into 8 shares. Heirs not named. No further information has been found for Lydia Lockwood.
