Dal 4 all’8 settembre, infatti, andranno in scena le Finals del World Tour 2019; ultimo appuntamento della stagione internazionale che vedrà scendere in campo le migliori coppie al mondo. Sulla sabbia capitolina ci saranno in palio fama, gloria, un ricco montepremi e molti, importanti punti validi per il ranking olimpico. Il Foro Italico, riconosciuto universalmente da atleti e addetti ai lavori come una delle migliori location del pianeta, torna dunque alle luci della ribalta a distanza di cinque anni dall’ultimo Grand Slam organizzato nel 2013. Il primo ciclo di joint ventur tra Federazione Italiana Pallavolo e l’allora CONI Servizi SpA diede vita a un quinquennio di grandi eventi tra i quali i Campionati del Mondo del 2011 che sancirono la consacrazione in Italia della disciplina più seguita ai Giochi Olimpici. La rassegna iridata fece registrare numeri importanti in termini di partecipazione di pubblico; un boom che contribuì successivamente all’ingresso della pallavolo nel complesso sportivo italiano (2014 Italia-Polonia e 2015 Italia-Brasile di World League; 2018 l’esordio degli azzurri nei Campionati del Mondo sotto lo sguardo del Presidente della Repubblica) che ha così accolto nella sua lunga storia un numero sempre maggiore di discipline.     WELCOME Welcome to the 39th Eastern Economic Association Annual Meetings in New York, N.Y. Our incoming President-Elect Solomon Polachek, session chairs, organizers, and review committee have done a great job putting together this year’s program, which I hope you will find as intellectually exciting as I do. The program furthers the EEA’s tradition of encouraging intellectual debate, open to all points of view. I'd particularly like to welcome those attending the conference from other regions of the country and other parts of the world. This has been a year marked by challenges in the New York area, with hurricane Sandy closing down the Association’s home office for two weeks and postponing the New York District Fed Challenge program. As many of you know, the EEA has partnered with the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and Philadelphia, and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors to sponsor the Federal Reserve Bank Challenge. This program is a competition by which five person teams from various colleges make 15-minute presentations to academics, practitioners, and Fed economists as to whether the Federal Reserve Open Market Committee should raise, maintain, or lower the targeted Fed Funds Rate. Subsequently the panel of expert judges questions the students on a wide range of issues. By working with the Federal Reserve System, the EEA is fulfilling one of its missions by promoting economic education. The 2018-2019 FIVB World Tour calendar includes two five-star events, both are part of the Beach Major Series, 12 four-star events, 6 three-star events, 8 two-star events, and 29 one-star events, along with the FIVB World Championships and the World Tour Finals. One FIVB Age Group World Championships for players under the age of 21 will also be held along with an Olympic Qualification Tournament in September. The 2018-2019 World Tour began in August of 2018 in Hungary and will conclude in September of 2019 with The World Tour Finals in Rome, Italy. The 2018-2019 season marks the 33rd anniversary of the first FIVB Beach Volleyball event held February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Eleven events played in 2018 in Hungary (Siofok), France (Montpellier), China (Zhongwei, Qinzhou, and Yangzhou), Iran (Bandar Torkaman, Babolsar, and Bandar Anzali), the United States (Las Vegas), Mexico (Chetumal), and Slovenia (Ljubljana) were a part of the 2018-2019 FIVB World Tour. The FIVB World Championships will be the 438th men’s event and 405th women’s event on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour (open, grand slam, Olympic and Goodwill). The first men’s FIVB World Tour event was played February 17-22, 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The first women’s event was played August 14-16, 1992 at Almeria, Spain.
