"Television dominates the entertainment conversation and is enjoying the most spectacular run in its history with breakthrough creativity, emerging platforms and dynamic new opportunities for our industry's storytellers," said Rosenblum. “From favorites like Game of Thrones, Veep, and House of Cards to nominations newcomers like black-ish, Master of None, The Americans and Mr. Robot, television has never been more impactful in its storytelling, sheer breadth of series and quality of performances by an incredibly diverse array of talented performers. “The Television Academy is thrilled to once again honor the very best that television has to offer.” This year’s Drama and Comedy Series nominees include first-timers as well as returning programs to the Emmy competition: black-ish and Master of None are new in the Outstanding Comedy Series category, and Mr. Robot and The Americans in the Outstanding Drama Series competition. Additionally, both Veep and Game of Thrones return to vie for their second Emmy in Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Drama Series respectively. While Game of Thrones again tallied the most nominations (23), limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story and Fargo received 22 nominations and 18 nominations respectively.

    BIOGRAPHY COLIN O’DONOGHUE ‘Gordon “Gordo” Cooper’ Colin O’Donoghue plays the role of original Mercury 7 astronaut ‘Gordon “Gordo” Cooper’ in National Geographic’s original scripted series THE RIGHT STUFF on Disney+, based on Tom Wolfe’s bestselling nonfiction series, which dramatically explores the early days of the NASA space program. A native of Drogheda, Ireland, and a graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Colin’s early career consisted of predominately theater and television work in Ireland and the UK. In 2003, Colin won the Irish Film and Television Award for Best New Talent for his role as ‘Norman’ in the made-for-TV movie “Home For Christmas.” Soon after, he had stints on “Proof,” “Fair City,” the mini-series “Rebel Heart” and “The Clinic” for Irish Television. He appeared in Season 3 of the hit Showtime series “The Tudors” as ‘Duke Philip of Bavaria,’ where he caught the eye of many industry followers. In 2010, Colin decided to head to Hollywood, where he instantly landed the lead role of ‘Michael Kovak’ and worked alongside Academy-Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins in the New Line Cinema feature “The Rite,” directed by Mikael Hafstrom. The following year, he starred in the ABC pilot “Identity,” opposite Angela Bassett for executive producer Mark Gordon (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Criminal Minds,” “Private Practice”), and booked the co-lead opposite BAFTA winner Noel Clarke in Johannes Roberts’ sci-fi film “Storage 24” for Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Joy donated her time and talent to bring this period film to life for the characters who were cast. It also led Lee Grant to win her second Oscar, this time in directing, for Best Student Film. Joy went on to work for Lee on Airport 77 and over the next two decades Joy worked with some of the biggest stars in film and television as Department Head or as Personal request including Personal for Jack Nicholson for over twenty years. To reach those necessary goals, we strategically use an array of interconnected channels and platforms to transform not only the media landscape but also a cul- ture in which women’s and girls’ voices, stories, experiences, and images are nei- ther suffciently amplifed nor placed on par with the voices, stories, experiences, and images of men and boys.     Sawtell Re-crafting the screenplay RMIT University Louise Sawtell Re-crafting the screenplay: A fictocritical approach Abstract: Screenwriters are often bound by the rules of the craft, adhering to specific formatting and functions of an industrial model. As a Writer-Director who has followed a story into production, I have felt restricted by the conventional presentation of a screenplay. I propose that a new model of screenwriting can include many different narratives, reflections, images, video and audio recordings alongside the actions and dialogue of the scenes. This alternative approach to writing the screen story would involve more than words perfectly formatted on the page. I have defined this multimodal form as a ‘fictocritical screenplay’. This paper focuses on the development and re-imagining of a feature film screenplay. I will explore my own screenwriting practice as a PhD candidate during the early stages of developing One in a Million Girl. I will highlight the multi-layered development and presentation of the fictocritical screenplay, which invites the reader to share the same development journey as the author. By demonstrating how my alternative approach differs from a more conventional development, I argue that a fictocritical screenplay offers the Writer-Director of a film further scope to experiment and discover a more visual presentation of the screen story. Biographical note: Louise Sawtell is a current PhD Candidate in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. Her practice-led research project explores actress representation through a fictocritical screenplay, One in a Million Girl. She has taught screenwriting, filmmaking and media studies at universities across Australia.
