Purple™Launches Purple VRS V2 for Iphone® 4, Ipod Touch® and Ipad®2 Purple Offers Customers More Choices When Making VRS Calls CONTACTS: Purple Communications Theresa Hong [email protected] 916-663-6828 Ryan Layton [email protected] 512-337-2272 Purple™Launches Purple VRS v2 for iPhone® 4, iPod touch® and iPad®2 Purple offers customers more choices when making VRS calls ROCKLIN, CALIF., JUNE 14, 2011 – Purple Communications™, Inc. (OTC: PRPL) (“Purple”), a leading provider of innovative communications for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, announced today the launch of the Purple Video Relay Service (VRS) version 2 application (app) for iPhone® 4, iPod touch® and iPad® 2. “Now more than ever, our customers and employees have choices when purchasing smartphones, computers and other devices,” said Mark Stern, Purple’s vice president of technical program management. “I’m proud that I am part of an organization that continually develops products and services that allow me the choice to use Purple VRS on an iPad, iPhone, Mac – whatever I choose.” Stern stresses that choice is important, adding that the launch earlier this year of Purple VRS for Mac® is due to the large number of Purple customers who use Mac computers and laptops. “We recognize one size doesn’t fit all, and the more choices we offer, the better our customers will be able to more freely and easily communicate,” he added. Using existing communication devices generally reserved for hearing individuals, like cell phones, Purple develops free communications software designed to make communications among deaf and hard-of-hearing people with hearing people easier and more convenient. By adding support for the iPad 2, Purple VRS continues to expand its products and services, allowing customers not only the freedom of more choices, but mobility, as well. “Before the iPad 2 was released, our customers and employees were asking if Purple VRS would work with it,” said Mark Bella, vice president of outreach. “They asked us because before Purple, our customers – me included – didn’t really have a choice when it came to making VRS calls. Purple gives us so many choices, and our customers know they can count on us to make sure they always stay connected.” The new Purple VRS for iOS app offers the following: Inbound and Outbound VRS calls Inbound and Outbound VP calls Use with Wi-Fi or 3G cellular service Twitter-Friendly Quotes “Our customers count on @PurpleComm for more #VRS choices” – [link] @markbella. #iPhone 4 #iPad 2 .@PurpleComm gives customers freedom choice AND mobility, too! – [link]! #VRS #iPhone 4 #iPad 2 .@PurpleComm launches #VRS for #iPhone 4 & #iPad 2! The iPhone 4S also comes with a few more subtle design tweaks that differentiate it from the iPhone 4, and you might miss some of those changes if you didn't have an iPhone 4 and 4S sitting side-by-side for a comparison. Antenna Improvements Phil Schiller actually did talk about the new antenna in the iPhone 4S during the most recent Apple event, but the changes to the iPhone's antenna aren't really obvious until you have the handset in your hands. One of those changes literally requires you to hold the device in your hand before you'll see it: the dreaded "death grip" of the iPhone 4 is gone in the iPhone 4S. A well-known and widely (over)publicized shortcoming of the iPhone 4's antenna design caused it to attenuate wireless signals when held a certain way. Bridging the black gap on the lower left side of the iPhone's antenna band would cause signal strength to drop for some users.
