García THE COLLEGIAN UT Brownsville will welcome Juan Osorio, an award- winning producer of two dozen telenovelas and the 2014 Mr. Amigo honoree, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Texas Southmost College Arts Center. The event is part of Brownsville’s 78th annual Charro Days Fiesta, which began Sunday and will continue through March 1. Charro Days began in 1937 and celebrates the binational friendship and respect between Brownsville and its neighbor across the Rio Grande, Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The Mr. Amigo Celebration is open to the community and admission is free. “During this event we like to showcase the talent on our campus,” Dean of Students Doug Stoves said. “So our folklórico group will be performing, our mariachi will be performing.
