5 LET ‘EM COME Saturday 28th January, about 1 a.m. After Willem II’s 3-2 victo- ry over Sparta in a passionate relegation battle, my friends and I were ready to take off to England. With many other Willem II fans we were going to visit London. First, we travelled with bus to Calais, France and took the boat to Dover, England. After the boat trip we travelled once again with the bus to our hotel in London, Hotel Croyden Park. The first thing we need to do when we were in the hotel, was having breakfast. After checking in, we had decided which stadiums we MUST visit while we were in London. Firstly, we bought a train ticket for the whole day. Then, we travelled to East London, the Olym- pic Stadium. It was very sad when West Ham left the Boleyn Ground, as known as Upton Park. Since this season, West Ham has the Olympic Stadium in use. 6 After a stadium tour, we decided to visit The Emirates. It was quite hilarious, because one of my frie- nds is an Arsenal supporter, and the other supports Tottenham. What we did not realise, is that we also have to hurry. Before the trip, my friend has bought 3 tickets for the match QPR - Burton Albion in the Championship. We stayed too long at the Emirates and thereby we missed the first minutes of the match, and the 0-1 of Burton Albion. The match ended in a 1-2 defeat for the home team. Despite the result, we liked the English way of football experience in an authentic stadium like Loftus Road. The next day was the big day, the match between League One side Mil- lwall and Premier League side Watford. Both teams are located in Lon- don. We were fortunately to take place at the Cold Blow Lane Stand, the side where most of Millwall hooligans are settled. The atmosphere during the game was amazing. I have never seen anything like this. Ninety minutes long the fans were chanting. It took a while, but after eighty-five minutes the whole stadium was cheering. Steve Morison volleyed the ball behind ex PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Hereulho Go- mes. The referee blew his whistle for the last time, and a big party burst out at The Den. 7 QR-CODE TO MY YOUTUBE VIDEO ABOUT THE ATMOSPHERE AT THE DEN! After the game, we bought a Millwall jersey. My friend, a Mill- wall fan just because his FIFA 16 career, bought a jersey with Lee Gregory, when I bought a shirt of the matchfinner this FA Cup match, Steve Morrison. Then we started our travel to our home town. With a visit to four football clubs in less than 48 hours, it was a be- autiful football weekend. In two days we have seen two matches, of which the last match the most important, and heroic, was. 8 During the trip, I became a fan of Millwall. Therefore, I was happy when I saw they also beat champions Leicester City. On the 21th of May they even clinched promotion to the Champi- onship! I have to say only one thing: NO ONE LIKES US, NO ONE LIKES US, NO ONE LIKES US, WE DON’T CARE WE’RE MILLWALL, SUPER MILLWALL WE’RE MILLWALL, FROM THE DEN! LET ‘EM COME ALL DOWN TO THE DEN! 9 EREDIVISIE, VOOR ALTIJD Thuis van een deceptie, weer een nederlaag.

File: BMD Doug Draper.mp3 Duration: 1:05:06 Date: 09/08/2016 Typist: 708 START AUDIO Doug Draper: My name is Doug Draper. I’m 81-years-old. I was born in the Old Town, so I’m probably one of the original… Well, not the original, but… Interviewer: Close to? Doug Draper: An official Stevenage resident. I’ve followed the football club ever since I was about seven, when I first went down to the Old London Road ground with my father. Then, later on, we were accompanied by my brother, who was a bit younger than me. Most of my memories go back to the Old Town football ground, which is no longer there and which is now under the Leisure Centre. I’ve had a look around on the internet and in various places, and I’ve found that the history of the Old Town Football Club has almost been obliterated, which frustrates me somewhat because I think that that’s where football really started. Okay, it’s nice to have a team like we’ve got now, but not a great deal of thought goes into what was here before the New Town. Interviewer: I don’t know that I can entirely do the maths here. The Old Town Football Club: that’s the original Stevenage Town - is that right? Doug Draper: The old Stevenage Town Football Club was originally founded before the Second World War, and they used to play on a ground off what is now Fairview Road, in the Fishers Green area.
