The Wiveliscombe Civic and Historical Society, of which I am Hon. Secretary, accept the boundary of the proposed Brendon and Wiveliscombe Ward but object to the name. 1 Wiveliscombe is clearly recognised as the Rural Centre for the Ward and therefore its name should appear first as in the neighbouring Wards of Dulverton and District and Milverton and District. Wiveliscombe has over half the population of the Ward and people searching for it would naturally look under "W" rather than "B". 2 A number of the Parishes included in the Ward are not in the area of the Brendon Hills and it is clearly illogical to put that name first for them.
