Along with Witt, Mark Wiebe (“Sweet Karma”), Scott Gibson (“The Pacific”), Susan Hogan (“It’s Christmas, Carol!”), Richard Fitzpatrick (“12 Dates of Christmas”) and Lawrence Dane (“You Lucky Dog”) are part of the Christmas confusion this holiday season. “A Very Merry Mix-up” is part of Hallmark Channel’s annual COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS, the #1 most treasured holiday destination by television viewers. Shop owner Alice Chapman (Witt) is nervous to meet her future in-laws at Christmas, especially because she is arriving ahead of her new fiancé, Will Mitchum (Gibson). Alice’s trip becomes more stressful when her luggage is lost and her phone is damaged, leaving her no way to find Will’s family! As fate would have it, she meets her future brother-in-law, Matt Mitchum (Wiebe), at baggage claim and is happy to get a ride home with him. As Alice meets Matt’s doting family, mom Penny (Hogan), dad Joe (Fitzpatrick) and Grandpa Charles (Dane), she falls in love with their festive holiday traditions and warm welcome to their home. On top of the love for Christmas she shares with the Mitchums, Alice realizes she feels a kindred spirit—not to mention a spark—with Matt. But Alice waits for Will to arrive and when he does, she realizes Matt’s brother “Billy” isn’t her fiancé at all! Embarrassed, Alice realizes there has been a huge mix-up and she is at the wrong Mitchum family’s house. Will picks her up and takes her to meet his real family, where the lack of love and Christmas spirit is suddenly very disappointing to Alice after staying with her faux in-laws. Then, when Matt finds Alice to tell her he has feelings for her, she struggles between staying with her incompatible fiancé or following her heart to be with the other Mitchum. As Christmas approaches, Alice must decide if her “Merry Mix-Up” is actually her destiny. “A Very Merry Mix-Up” is a Chesler/Perlmutter Production. Lewis Chesler, David Perlmutter, Robert Vaughn and Dominique Telson are the executive producers. Marek Posival is the producer. Jonathan Wright directed from a script written by Barbara Kymlicka. It seemed more like two months. At times, even two weeks. Why? Because even though I have worked in TV for more than three decades, I have never seen our industry undergo such extraordinary — and extraordinarily exciting — changes as it has in recent years. Everywhere you turn, the vanguard is disrupting the old guard with an astonishing new technology, an amazing new show, an inspired new way to structure a business deal. This is not to imply that the more established segments of our industry have been pushed aside. On the contrary, the broadcast and cable networks continue to produce terrific work that is heralded by critics and rewarded each year at the Emmys. And broadcast networks still command the largest viewing audience across all of their platforms. With our medium thriving as never before, this is a great time to work in television, and a great time to be part of the Television Academy. Consider the 65th Emmy Awards. The CBS telecast, hosted by the always-entertaining Neil Patrick Harris, drew our largest audience since 2005.
