The population of the municipality is 25 thousand people and in Teteven live about 12 thousand people. The territory of the municipality is situated in a beautiful valley of the river of Vit. Altitude ranges from 340 to 2,100 meters and in Teteven is 415 m. It is surrounded by mountain peaks - Treskavets, Ostrich, Cherven, Kon, Haydushka polyana, Petrahilya. The achievement of sustainable development of Bulgarian tourist resorts is questionable after the European Commission has put Bulgaria's two-month ultimatum to prove that it can deal with the problem of dirty air. Tourism is a sector that is accused of violating sustainable development due to its many negative environmental impacts. A significant part of the harmful impact is due to the transport used to reach the desired destination and the movement itself. Sustainable development is a key objective of the EU and Bulgaria should not lag behind in terms of the essential indicators for its achievement. This publication aims to propose effective measures to reduce the harmful impact of passenger transport on the environment by establishing sustainable transport practices in touristic resorts. The environmental component of sustainable development is among its main priorities. Based on expert analysis of Bulgarian touristic resorts, our own research and experience in the studied subject will offer effective measures to increase their sustainability by reducing the harmful impact of transport on the environment. 1 Introduction transport practices in tourist destinations and thus contributing to the sustainable development of tourism. They are mineral and mountain spring waters. According to their temperature they can be cold (up to 37° С), warm (from 37° C to 60° C) and hot (over 60° C). This is Bulgarian standard, European Union. The mountain spring waters are cold with temperature up to 25° С. In Bulgaria for drinking mineral and mountain spring waters are valid Ordinance No 9 / 2001, Official State Gazette, issue 30, and decree No. 178 / 23.07.2004. By their chemical composition they fall into three categories – low mineralized (up to 2 g/L), moderately mineralized (2 to 15 g/L) and highly mineralized (15 – 30 g/L). According to their chemical composition the mineral waters are divided into sulphate, sulfide, hydrogen carbonate, chloride and carbonic. With regards to their gas composition they are nitrogen, sea and carbonic waters.

Sadovski, e-mail: [email protected] Abstract Numerical methods including cluster analysis, similarity measures and other techniques were used to compare climatic data from Bulgarian stations in order to classify them according similar homoclimate. Using Euclidean distance and City-block (Manhattan) distance, data from Bulgaria and states of the USA were analyzed to reveal homoclime. Similarities in conditions for growth and development of crops of these areas were also determined. Key words: homoclimate, homoclime, cluster analysis, similarity measures. Introduction In many fields including agroclimatology, pedology, plant introduction, environmental health and agricultural transfer, detection of areas of similar climate is of significant interest. It helps in solving completely different problems like allocation of appropriate agricultural crops to given areas and evaluation of bioclimatic resources in connection with genetic status of population on certain locations. Definition of homoclime (Merriam-Webster): a climatically similar environment; specifically: a region climatically similar to another specified region Several authors have carried out comparisons of climate in different parts of the world. The term "homoclime" is used by Prescot (1938) for areas with similar climate. Others have used the term "homoclimate" (Meigs, 1953). Russell and Moore (1970) give the exact definition of both terms. The term homoclimate refers to two or more stations that possess a similar climate, whereas the term homoclime refers to areas or regions, which possess similar climate. So comparisons are made between meteorological stations and they define homoclimates (Russel, 1982). In the case of considering local conditions on small confined locations we are using term "local homoclimates".
