Risk Assessment Report RISK ASSESSMENT REPORT Risk assessment Report for Multi colour Granite quarry of M/s Chindia Granites, Sivakasi Taluk, Virudhunagar District, Tamil Nadu. 1.0 INTRODUCTION: The applicant, M/s Chindia Granites Private Limited, residing at No.12A, West Street Thiruthangal, Sivakasi Taluk, Virudhunagar District., has applied for permission of quarrying Multi colour Granites at S.F.No.168,169/8A & 169/8B, over an extent of 1.28.5 Hectares, Patta land located in Pudukottai Village of Sivakasi Taluk, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. The production capacity is proposed as 971M3 annum. By virtue of its size of lease area, the proposal falls under “B2” category. 1.1 Contact Address a) Name of the applicant : M/s Chindia Granites b) Address : No.12A, West Street Thiruthangal, Sivakasi Taluk, Virudhunagar District., c) Contact No. : 04562-228883, 228884. Manager will be appointed and he will be provided with suitable communication facilities. Primary Health centre is available in Kalaiyarkurchi for medical emergencies, about 2.5 kms away from the mine. 12. Care and Maintenance during temporary discontinuance: Watch and ward are provided permanently in the Mine premises to monitor the Mine openings to prevent inadvertent entry. Top soil bund is made partly and Stone fencing is proposed all around lease boundary to safe guard the mine and the adjacent livings. Temporary discontinuance will be minimum as there is enough demand for this material in tiles industries. Most of labours are Agriculturist. In case of closure of mine, they may continue their own work or join in the neighbor mines as there are several granite quarries around this area within 17kms. Being a proposed quarry immediate retrenchment may not arise. 2.2 Compensation given or to be given to the employees connecting with sustenance of himself and their family members. In case of any closure of mine the compensation under Industrial Dispute Act will be paid as per law. All workers shall get retrenchment benefits as per labour laws under enforcement. 2.3 Satellite occupations connected to the mining industry – number of persons engaged therein – continuance of such business after mine closes. The quarrying activity shall lead to development of several ancillary units and business, which are explained below: Other than mine employment, workshops, spare parts, tyres and tubes and related several self-employment opportunities. Several shops and service providers shall grow in the public adjacent to mines, Schools and city development shall also be possible owing to the fact of economic growth in the village. In the event of closure of mine, the mine worker shall get alternate work or business like agriculture etc. No serious repercussions envisaged in the event of cessation of mining activity, as they will be provided employment in other mines belong to the company. 2.5 Envisaged repercussions on the expectation of the society around due to closure of mine. Persons on Roll at the time of closure will get benefit as per State Govt. guidelines as applicable at the time of retrenchment 2.6 Time Scheduling for abandonment: The following works are scheduled before abandoning the mine, i) Parapet wall of 2m height will be constructed around the pit, ii) Planting and monitoring of Afforestation programme. As there is no proposal for closure of mine for the next 5-10 years. The abandonment of quarry does not arise. The parapet and plantations will be done during the year 2014-19. In case of any abandonment the following time is required, Activities Days for schedule Time schedule for fencing 6 months Time schedule for reclamation of 1 year mined out area 2.7Statutory provisions: Provisions of the Mines Act, Rules and Regulations orders made there under shall be complied with, so that the safety of the mine, machinery and persons will be ensured. Permission, relaxation or exemption wherever required for the safe and scientific mining of the deposit will be obtained from the Department of Mine Safety. No abandonment during first five years and therefore no budget are allotted for the first five years. Total budget for Afforestation and EMP shall be, Expenditure = Rs 30000+ 46000 = Rs76,000 per year Period = 5 years Budget Amount = Rs 380,000 for five years. *NO EIA STUDIES CONDUCTED Signature of the Applicant (Tvl.     VIRUDHUNAGAR DISTRICT Virudhunagar district has no access to sea as it is covered by land on all the sides. The fertility of the land is low in Virudhunagar district, so crops like cotton, pulses, oilseeds and millets are mainly grown in the district. It is rich in minerals like limestone, sand, clay, gypsum and granite. Tourists from various places come to visit Bhuminathaswamy Temple, Ramana Maharishi Ashram, Kamaraj's House, Andal, Vadabadrasayi koi, Shenbagathope Grizelled Squirrel Sanctuary, Pallimadam, Arul Migu Thirumeni Nadha Swamy Temple, Aruppukkottai Town, Tiruthangal, Vembakottai, Pilavakkal Dam, Ayyanar falls, Mariamman Koil situated in the district of Virudhunagar. Minerals and Mining The District consists of red loam, red clay loam, red sand, black clay and black loam in large areas with extents of black and sand cotton soil found in Sattur and Aruppukottai taluks.

Rural and tribal populations were most negatively affected by this storm. Parts of Dindigul District were severely damaged, so our partners working in this district were heavily involved in relief efforts, which included helping people seek temporary shelter and food assistance and linking them with government supported aid. Local authority elections in Tamil Nadu continued to be delayed. Since October 2016 Tamil Nadu has been functioning without 200 ward councillors and 12,524 panchayat leaders. The absence of these officials has resulted in delays at the local level for some government services. In Agriculture front, the State Government has set on to usher in Second Green Revolution for doubling the crop production and tripling the farmers’ income and formulated policies and innovative steps to achieve equitable, 1 competitive and sustainable growth in agriculture. To increase their income and to provide “Food Security”, the Government initiated various measures especially in planning to prepare road maps through “Tamil Nadu Vision 2023”, Food Grain Mission, District Agricultural Plan, State Agricultural Plan and Agricultural Infrastructure Development Programme under RKVY and District and State Irrigation Plan under PMKSY etc. Such initiatives helped in drawing implementable action plans, convergence of efforts and focus the constraints in a better tactical and strategic level.
