1. Program Description CatholicCare NT provide a number of programs and services throughout the including Top End, Central and remote regions. These programs and sites have a combined large vehicle fleet, site offices and other buildings linked to the various programs operating across the Tiwi Islands.

2. Purpose of the Position The Fleet and Maintenance Officer has responsibility for maintaining the vehicle fleet in good working order, ensuring all vehicles are registered and roadworthy, supporting WHS requirements and undertaking general maintenance of the site and outdoor areas at all CatholicCare facilities across the Tiwi Islands. The position will have responsibility for building maintenance, repairs and other works required to ensure CCNT and CCNT Resources operated buildings in Wurrimiyanga, Milikapiti and communities are functional and safe.

3. Organisational Relationships The Fleet and Maintenance Officer reports directly to the Tiwi Islands Coordinator. The role will also be required to work closely with the WHS Coordinator and General Manager Finance and Corporate Services.

Supervises other staff and/or works in a specialised field.

4. SCHADS Level 4 Characteristics • Work under general direction in functions that require the application of skills and knowledge appropriate to the work. Generally, guidelines and work procedures are established. • Application of knowledge and skills, gained through qualifications and/or previous experience in a discipline. • Contribute knowledge in establishing procedures in the appropriate work-related field. • May be required to supervise various functions within a work area or activities of a complex nature.

• May involve a range of work functions, which could contain a substantial component of supervision. • May be required to provide specialist expertise or advice in their relevant discipline. • Requires a sound knowledge of program, activity, operational policy or service aspects of the work performed with a function or a number of work areas. • Require skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising their own work and that of lower classified staff and/or volunteers where supervision is a component of the position, to achieve specific objectives. • Expected to set outcomes and further develop work methods where general work procedures are not defined.

5. Key Responsibilities and Performance Standards 5.1 Maintain Fleet • Ensure fleet is maintained and safe, including checking and replenishment of all on board safety equipment. • Manage and monitor monthly vehicle audit for all Tiwi Islands based vehicles. • Liaise with the Finance and Corporate Services team to ensure all vehicle requirements are met, including registration and roadworthiness. • Support requirements for all motor vehicle insurance claims. • Manage vehicle bookings with Tiwi Islands Coordinator and support current, new and visiting staff to safely access and use Tiwi based vehicles in line with CCNT policy.

5.2 Maintenance of CCNT assets • Maintain CCNT and CCNT Resource grounds and assets across all facilities. • Regularly mow and upkeep all CCNT and CCNT Resources Tiwi Islands sites. • Undertake general maintenance to CCNT and CCNT Resources buildings in Wurrimiyanga, Milikapiti and Pirlangimpi, under the direction of the Tiwi Islands Coordinator and the Finance and Corporate Services team. • Maintain all plant and equipment to ensure they are in good working order. • Where required, coordinate test and tag of CCNT and CCNT Resources electrical assets in all sites. • Deliver freight, equipment and plant to sites as required.

5.3 Infrastructure In collaboration with Finance and Corporate Services, support coordination of CCNT and CCNT Resources property and infrastructure projects on Tiwi Islands. • Obtain quotes from contractors and oversee implementation of projects as required. • Undertake building repairs and minor building works in line with qualifications and regulations.

5.4 Work Health and Safety • Assist Tiwi Islands Coordinator on all WHS matters including: - Ensuring facilities, equipment and motor vehicles are kept in good repair and maintained to the level required for WHS compliance. - Ensuring audits of fire safety systems, electrical equipment (Tag & Testing), site and emergency response procedures are undertaken in line with CCNT WHS policy and procedures. - Coordinating timely completion and lodgement of incidents reports, ensuring procedures for reporting, addressing of and WHS risks are adhered too.

5.5 Participate in Supervision and Evaluation activities by: • providing accurate information and completion of CCNT processes in line with position requirements • providing reports and feedback as requested • attending supervision to reflect and review work tasks and practices as per CatholicCare NT policy.

5.6 Safeguarding Children Our organisation takes child protection seriously, and as an employee/volunteer of CatholicCare NT, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy (ORG/SP/P030). You will have received a copy of this policy as part of your induction. You can also access a copy of this policy via the Intranet. All staff are to provide a service in line with our safeguarding children policies and procedures and are required to report any concerns of abuse and neglect toward children and young people to the relevant authorities as per policy and procedure. Any criminal charges or convictions received during the course of employment/ volunteering that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people must be reported to the relevant Line Manager within forty eight (48) hours.

6. 7. Work Conditions The Fleet and Maintenance Officer is located in Wurrimiyanga on Bathurst Island in a busy, open area office, however, by nature the role also requires remote work on Melville Island as approved by the Tiwi Islands Coordinator. This position will require regular travel; this will include travel between remote communities on unsealed roads, staying in basic accommodation. This position may include

some weekend or after hours work from time to time. All staff are expected to comply with relevant WH&S requirements.

8. Selection Criteria 1) A trade qualification in construction, electrical or mechanical fields is highly desirable. 2) Ability to manage multiple responsibilities including fleet management, coordination of grounds, building maintenance and infrastructure projects and support compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements. 3) Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of fleet and asset management and maintenance. 4) Ability to coordinate tagging and testing or ability to acquire the skills to tag and test CCNT electrical assets. 5) Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work across teams and communicate appropriately with local cultural groups, in a fluent manner. 6) Demonstrated ability to use technology, including work documents, excel, email and electronic databases.

9. Special Conditions 1) Must be an Australian Citizen or have unlimited work rights within Australia. 2) This position is subject to a satisfactory criminal history check that must demonstrate that you have not had inappropriate dealings with children, or been charged or convicted of a domestic violence offence. 3) Valid NT Drivers Licence and Ochre Card. 4) This position requires you to apply for a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card prior to your employment commencement date and send us receipt of payment. This will be at your own cost. 5) If you have resided in an overseas country for 12 months or more in the past 10 years, this position requires you to complete an International Criminal History check (ICHC) prior to you employment commencement date. The outcome of the initial screening check must be satisfactory. 6) Six-month probation period. 7) Non-smoking working environment. 8) The contact details of at least two referees are required. 9) Evidence of qualification attainment will be required. 10) After hours work will be required at times according to the need of the program.
