Your Name 1 MLA Style Guide: 8th Edition (rev. Mar. 2021) In the past, citing sources in MLA was governed by rules and a more prescriptive approach: you decided what type of source you had and looked up the correct MLA format in which to cite it. But because information now exists in so many different forms, an “information overload,” so to speak, (e.g. online journals, websites, blogs, Netflix, YouTube, etc.), MLA has created a more universal set of guidelines or principles based on core elements—information common to most sources, which you then cite in the order recommended by MLA. You may already be familiar with some of the following: -Author -Title of source -Title of container -Other contributors -Version -Number -Publisher -Publication date -Location Containers: If you’ve used MLA in the past, you already know what a container is: it’s the book, periodical, TV series, web site, etc. that “contains” the information you want to use. Moreover, a container may be located within another container, such as an article that appears in a scholarly journal (container 1) which you found in Academic Search Complete (container 2). Containers is a term you will find in the 8th edition, so it’s important to be familiar with it. Each element will be discussed below so that you can identify the information you’ll need to cite your sources correctly. However, not all of these elements may appear in the source. Use only the information the source provides. For material not covered here, please consult your instructor, the MLA Handbook (8th edition), the Writing Center staff, or the Writing Center web page. -

Through the analysis of the similarities between their lives, this project attempts to prove how both fictional characters are based and influenced by Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Moreover, there is very little previous literature about the life of Elizabeth of York, obscuring and undermining her important role in putting an end to the Wars of the Roses. Thus, besides proving the relationship between these historical characters and the fictional ones, the aim of this paper is also to emphasise the historical importance given to Elizabeth of York in Game of Thrones by means of using her as a main source of inspiration for two of the most important an relevant characters of the series. As a result, this work also intends to prove how Game of Thrones demolishes gender boundaries by using characteristics of both Henry VII and Elizabeth of York to shape the characters of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. -

‘I watch it for historic reasons.’ Representation and reception of the Middle Ages in A Song of Ice and Fire’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ Riccardo Facchini Práticas da História, n.º 4 (2017): 43-73 www.praticasdahistoria.pt Práticas da História, n.º 5 (2017): 43-73 Riccardo Facchini ‘I watch it for historic reasons.’ Representation and reception of the Middle Ages in A Song of Ice and Fire’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ This article aims to analyse several ideas of the Middle Ages that inspired HBO’s TV show Game of Thrones (HBO 2011-), based on George R. R. Martin’s ongoing series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire (1996-). The phenomenon will be read through the concept of “medievalism”, i.e. «the representation, the recep- tion and the post-medieval use of the Middle Ages» (di Carpeg- na Falconieri 2011). After a short introduction concerning the Middle Ages and cinema, I will analyse the new way in which Martin represents and perceives medieval times. This different approach places in the medieval era the disillusionment and the alleged absence of values typical of postmodern times, often hidden behind the notion of historical “realism”. The result is a rejection of the neo-medieval romantic idealization of the Midd- le Ages that characterized most twentieth-century productions. Weisser1 Abstract ‘Quality’ television drama is drama marketed as being filmic and boundary-pushing, yet it tackles the concept of masculinity in highly normative ways. Scholars argue that many quality television shows feature narratives of men struggling against emasculation at the hands of contemporary society before using violence to assert their masculinity by force. However, this interpretation is limited, assuming that all quality television shows which engage with violent masculinities root this violence in normative, ‘aggressive’ masculinity. -

ADRIAN MARTINEZ PRESS KIT ADRIAN MARTINEZ BIO Adrian Martinez has over 100+ television and film credits including several standout sidekick roles including “Focus” opposite Will Smith and Margot Robbie, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” opposite Ben Stiller, ”Casa de mi Padre” opposite ‘Mexican’ Will Ferrell and “I Feel Pretty,” as Amy Schumer‘s office buddy, ‘Mason’. Martinez most recently starred on the Cobie Smulders-led ABC series “Stumptown” based on the graphic novel by the same name. On the film front, he also most recently played the role of the dog- catching villain ‘Elliot,’ in the live-action/CG hybrid update of the animated classic, “Lady and the Tramp,” on Disney+ earning him a “Best Actor – Feature Film” nomination for the 2020 Imagen Awards. Next up, Martinez will release his directorial debut, “iGilbert,” a drama feature he wrote starring himself, Dascha Polanco (“Orange is the New Black”) and Raul Castillo (“Looking”). Martinez is also know for series regular roles on television shows such as the CBS All Access comedy, “No Activity” produced by Will Ferrell and Funny or Die, as well as the computer hacker, ‘Dumont’ in the NBC spin-off, “The Blacklist: Redemption” opposite Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold. When he isn’t filming his current television show in LA, Mr. Martinez resides in a Whole Foods in New York City. Abstract This thesis examines representations of the medieval in popular fantasy film and television. Emphasizing costume design, this paper explores themes of identity, nation, past and present. Analysis is organized through three case studies, Andrew Adamson’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ Game of Thrones (2011- 2019). Each work demonstrates different strategies for constructing the past and referencing history to authenticate fantastic worldbuilding. They exist within broader traditions of medievalism and exploring present concerns through the veil of the past. -

This poses a significant problem to society because torture does not work, and if society continues to believe this misperception, it may lead to the erosion of societal morals for future generations. A possible explanation for entertainment media’s role in the continuation of this misperception could be related to the mere exposure effect due to frequency of torture being seen on television. -
