Rear Admiral Mark Campbell – Head of Navy Capability Admiral Campbell is a Helicopter Warfare Instructor with substantial aviation, command, acquisition and sustainment experience. He has about 3,500 flying hours mainly as an anti-submarine tactical co- ordinator in Sea King and Seahawk helicopters. His operational deployments included Operation BURSA, Operation DAMASK (including Operation DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM in 1990-91) and in the Northern Red Sea enforcing United Nations sanctions against Iraq in 1992. He has a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from Deakin University. A keen sportsman, Admiral Campbell has toured New Zealand, England and South East Asia with the ADF cricket teams, as well as representing the Navy in soccer and tennis. Admiral Campbell was appointed Head Navy Capability in October 2012 and retired from the RAN in January 2015 after 36 years of service. Dr Terry Mernagh - B.Sc. (Hons) and Ph.D. University of Newcastle. Dr Mernagh is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Previously, he worked at the Bureau of Mineral Resources / AGSO / Geoscience Australia from 1984 to 2014. His work involves studies of mineral systems and the geochemical modelling of fluids and alteration associated with ore deposits and he has over 30 years’ experience in fluid inclusion, laser Raman and infrared spectroscopic techniques. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of Australia and a Member of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and has over 100 refereed publications in scientific journals. Areas of expertise Geochemistry Structural Chemistry And Spectroscopy Ore Deposit Petrology Research interests Laser Raman spectroscopy Fluid inclusion analysis Hydrothermal geochemistry Ore deposits Kailani Craine – International Ice Figure Skating 2013–2014 Craine won her 2nd junior national title in the ISU Junior Grand Prix series and competed at the World Junior Championships in Bulgaria. 2014–2015 Craine won her 3rd junior and 1st senior national title at the Australian Championships. Craine placed 12th at the Four Continents Championships in South Korea and 16th at the World Junior Championships in Estonia. 2015–2016 Craine continued as Australia's junior and senior national champion. At the Four Continents Championships, she placed 13th. 2016–2017 Craine took bronze at the Volvo Open Cup, silver at the CS Warsaw Cup and won her 3rd senior national title. Craine placed 5th at the Asian Winter Games in Japan, 16th at the Four Continents Championships and finished 24th in the World Championships. 2017–2018 Craine won bronze at the Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy and silver at the Slovenia Open. She won at the CS Nebelhorn Trophy to qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics At only 19 years of age, Craine finished 17th in her Olympic debut at the Pyeong Chang Games. Bishop Brian Mascord – Diocese of Wollongong Bishop Brian gained a Diploma of Teaching at the Catholic College of Education in Castle Hill (now the Australian Catholic University). He taught for six years in primary schools in the Diocese until he began his studies for the priesthood at St Patrick’s College in Manly (1986– 1990) where he was awarded a Bachelor of Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle in 1992. From 1993 to 1996 he worked as an assistant priest and administrator at the parishes of Taree, Hamilton and Stockton. He then served as parish priest at the parishes of Cardiff, East Maitland, Morpeth, Maitland, Lochinvar and Rutherford. From 2007 to 2018 he was the vocations director for the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle and served as administrator at the parishes of Nelson Bay, Mayfield and Mayfield West, and parish priest of the MacKillop Parish. He was a long-standing member of the Council of Priests and was a member of the diocesan team and Australian Council for Clergy Life and Ministry. From 2012 to 2018 he was the vicar general of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. In 2017, His Holiness Pope Francis appointed Brian Mascord as the fifth Bishop of Wollongong and he was ordained in 2018. Ryan Callinan – Pro Surfing Champion Major accomplishments: 2009 Joined the Men's World Surf League Qualifying Series 2015 Finished 10th on the Qualifying series and became the first Newcastle surfer to make the top Championship tour since 2005 2016 Competed on the Championship tour for the first time which is reserved for the best 36 surfers in the world 2018 Re-joined the Qualifying series fulltime and won his first professional surfing event on the Qualifying Series at the 6000 point Ichinomiya Chiba Open in Japan. 2018 Won the 2018 Qualifying Series 10000 point Billabong Ericeira Pro in Portugal which is the one of the highest ranked events in the series. This victory gained him an invitation to compete in a 2018 Championship tour event - the Quicksilver Pro in France in which he finished runner-up against the world’s top 36 surfers. His recent successes have secured Ryan a Championship Tour return in 2019. Tony Archer – National Rugby League Referee Archer presided over 295 National Rugby League games as referee from 1999 - 2012 as well as being the referee of 13 State of Origin matches and 9 International matches, including at the 2008 World Cup. Archer made his first grade debut in 1999. Since then, he has refereed every NRL Grand Final from 2012 to 2017. He refereed in the 2008 World Cup and the 2010 Four Nations Final. Archer was named international referee of the year in 2007 and 2008. In 2011, the annual RLIF Awards dinner was held at the Tower of London and Archer was named referee of the year. He retired at the end of the 2012 NRL season to take up a coaching role. In late 2013 until 2017, Archer was the National Rugby League referee Elite performance manager. He is currently working in a new role of NRL General Manager, Officiating. During his on field-refereeing career, he was a Police Prosecutor with the NSW Police working with the State Crime Command Drug and Homicide Squad. John Gralton – District Police Commander Commander Gralton has served in the NSW Police Force since 1988. He is currently District Commander, Tuggerah Lakes. For the previous 11 years, Gralton was Commander of Newcastle City, Central Hunter and Hunter Valley commands. Honours and Awards: 2018 Australian Police Medal Queens Birthday Honours List - Awarded by the Governor General for exemplary and distinguished service. 2017 Proclamation for Outstanding Citizen Awarded by the Lord Mayor - Newcastle City Council for years of commitment and service. 2016 National Crime and Violence Prevention Award Awarded by the Hon Michael Keenan Federal Minister for Justice and Minister assisting the Prime Minister for Counter Terrorism. 2012 National Winner - Australian Crime and Violence Prevention Awards. Awarded by the Australian Heads of Government and the Standing Council on Police and Emergency Management for reducing alcohol related crime and violence. 2011 Customer Service Leader of the Year for excellence in the performance of his role as Commissioner of Police. 2008 Commissioner's Unit Citation For outstanding service and devotion to duty during the Hunter/Central Coast Storm Emergency in June 2007. 2007 Region Commander's Commendation for commitment, passion, professionalism and loyalty. 2003 National Service Medal NSW Police Force for Long Service and good conduct. 2003 New South Wales Police Medal for Diligent and Ethical Service. 1997 Australia Day Achievement Medallion Awarded by the Director - Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence for hard work, effort, commitment and achievement. .
