Kisha Spellman-White Years Attended: 1993-96 Area of Study: Athlete Basketball The American Basketball Association announced two new expansion teams for the 2008 season with one right here in Prescott Valley. The ownership group includes Kisha Spellman- White. Kisha played guard/small forward for the Yavapai College Roughriders in 1996, then with the Arizona Sun Devils before embarking on a professional career in Cairns, Australia. For the last six years, she and her mother, Rita White, have been running a successful charter school in Phoenix. A successful businesswoman, she is also the owner of a new behavioral health residential care facility that houses foster children between the ages of 5 and 12 in a home-like setting. Renormalizing individual performance metrics for cultural heritage management of sports records Alexander M. (Dated: April 21, 2020) Individual performance metrics are commonly used to compare players from different eras. However, such cross-era comparison is often biased due to signiﬁcant changes in success factors underlying player achievement rates (e.g. performance enhancing drugs and modern training regimens). Such historical comparison is more than fodder for casual discussion among sports fans, as it is also an issue of critical importance to the multi- billion dollar professional sport industry and the institutions (e.g. Hall of Fame) charged with preserving sports history and the legacy of outstanding players and achievements. To address this cultural heritage management issue, we report an objective statistical method for renormalizing career achievement metrics, one that is par- ticularly tailored for common seasonal performance metrics, which are often aggregated into summary career metrics – despite the fact that many player careers span different eras. Remarkably, we ﬁnd that the method applied to comprehensive Major League Baseball and National Basketball Association player data preserves the overall functional form of the distribution of career achievement, both at the season and career level. As such, subsequent re-ranking of the top-50 all-time records in MLB and the NBA using renormalized metrics indicates reordering at the local rank level, as opposed to bulk reordering by era.

First Pro Basketball Team in Providence Set to Begin Play in 2020
First Pro basketball team in Providence set to begin play in 2020 In 2020, basketball fans will have a pro team to cheer for in Providence. Rhode Islanders now have both a name and a logo to go along with their new professional basketball team. The Providence Pirates will start their inaugural season in 2020 as part of the American Basketball Association (ABA), America’s largest and most diverse professional sports league with over 150 teams nationwide. Some of ABA’s notable players who went on to play for the NBA include: Julius Irving (Dr. J), George Gervin (The Iceman), Ricky Barry, Moses Malone, among others. The Providence Pirates will compete in ABA’s Northeast Region with teams from New England, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The team will use orange, black, and white as its colors. The Owner/President of the Pirates, Sercan Fenerci, is a 15 year coaching veteran and former player of Northern Essex Community College (where he was named player of the region) and Angelo State University (TX), NCAA Division II. Fenerci received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Angelo State and Master of Science in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Fenerci is a native of Turkey where he has been serving as a coach for the Turkish National Team youth levels for the past three years. Fenerci resides in Pawtucket with his wife and serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Bunker Hill Community College. Fenerci is also the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach for Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, Massachusetts and President/Founder of the Basketball Academy of New England.

WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the members of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Orlando Woolridge, age fifty-two, on May 31, 2012, at his parents' home in Mansfield; and WHEREAS, Orlando Woolridge was born on December 16, 1959, to the union of Mattie and Larnceen Woolridge in Bernice, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, he was a rugged basketball forward who established a reputation over thirteen seasons in the National Basketball Association as a scoring specialist and one of the original alley-oop artists; and WHEREAS, in high school, Orlando Woolridge scored 3,036 points (22.0 per game) and grabbed 1,945 rebounds (14 per game), including averages of 21 points and 25 rebounds as a senior at Mansfield High School; and WHEREAS, he was named the state Player of the Year as a senior, when he won his third straight all-district honor and was team co-captain; and WHEREAS, after high school, he played for the University of Notre Dame and during his tenure there, the Fighting Irish defeated four No. 1 teams (Marquette in 1977-78, DePaul in 1979-80, Kentucky and Virginia in 1980-81), and his coach, Digger Phelps, noted about Woolridge, "He has to be one of few players in the history of college basketball to be part of a team that knocked off four number one teams -- and he won two of those", making Page 1 of 3 SCR NO.
